The Samsung Galaxy S10+ has been popping up online for a while now, and a new image has just surfaced. This image is allegedly showing the prototype variant of the Galaxy S10+ (as you can see it says “Beyond 2” in the image), as the final variant probably won’t look like this. This phone does not exactly look like the one that leaked several times now, but it seems to be an earlier prototype of Samsung’s upcoming smartphone. As you can see, this phone does sport thin bezels, but not as thin as the ones expected in the final design. In addition to that, the display on this phone seems to be flat, while the Galaxy S10+ is actually expected to ship with a curved display. As if that’s not enough, this phone features a different front-facing camera implementation than the Galaxy S10+ that surfaced a number of times thus far. There are two cameras in the upper-right corner of this phone, but they’re separated, while the Galaxy S10+’s front-facing cameras will almost certainly be closer together in a pill-like shape, as the company is aiming to include them in the display, basically make a hole in the display in order to accommodate two front-facing cameras. All we get to see in this image is the front side of this prototype, so not much is revealed, but the final product almost certainly will not look like this.
Background: The upcoming Galaxy S10+ is expected to arrive in February, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, along with the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy S10. The “premium” Galaxy S10 variant is rumored to arrive later on, and unlike all the other Galaxy S10 variant, it will ship with a ceramic back, 5G support, 12GB of RAM, and six cameras, at least if rumors are to be believed. The Galaxy S10+ is expected to sport three cameras on the back, two on the front, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device will include extremely thin bezels, mainly thanks to those display holes for the camera, while some case leaks also suggested that the phone will include a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone will be fueled either by the Snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9820, depending on where you buy it, and it will ship with Android 9 Pie, and Samsung’s new One UI skin on top of it.
Impact: The Galaxy S10+ will not be the most powerful variant of the Galaxy S10 if the rumors regarding the “premium” Galaxy S10 pan out, but it will be almost as powerful. Samsung is planning to introduce a new design with its new Galaxy S10 series, as it has been two years since the company refreshed its design language. You can still expect glass and metal to be a part of the package, and curved display as well, but thinner bezels overall, and a display camera hole(s), whether you like that or not. The Galaxy S10 devices are once again amongst the most anticipated smartphones of 2019, and we’ll see how many of these rumors / leaks were accurate, though plenty more info will probably surface in the coming weeks.
