The OnePlus 6T has just received a new update, OxygenOS 9.0.7, the company has announced via its official forums. As per usual, OnePlus listed a full changelog for the update, and there are quite a few fixes and improvements listed here, and even one new feature. The company says that Bluetooth stability has been improved in this update, so you should experience better Bluetooth connectivity in some cases. On top of that, the company has improved stability for Wi-Fi connection, and also standby power consumption. The standby power consumption improvements have been targeted in the last couple of updates for the device, even though the phone offered great battery life, to begin with, but it seems like OnePlus is determined to get the best out of the OnePlus 6T. Some users have been experiencing display issues with lock screen wallpapers, and that has been patched up via this update as well, says the company. Those of you who love to shoot slow-motion videos with your OnePlus 6T will be glad to know that the performance of slow-motion videos has also been tweaked in this update, while the company has added an audio tuner for Bluetooth earphones as well. On top of all that, “general bug fixes and improvements” are also listed in the changelog, as expected. This update is currently rolling out to all global OnePlus 6T units (not Chinese ones or ones sold through T-Mobile), and the company emphasizes that this is a staged rollout, so not everyone will receive it right away.
Background: At this point, OnePlus had released several updates for the OnePlus 6T, as the very first update for the device arrived before the phone even started shipping to consumers. The company tweaked various aspects of the OnePlus 6T since the phone got launched, including the performance of its Nightscape mode for low light photography. The phone’s camera has been tweaked a few times thus far, same goes for standby battery performance, while various other tweaks have been listed thus far. The OnePlus 6T is the company’s brand new flagship which got announced at the end of October, and is now available in a number of markets around the world. The phone originally arrived in Black Mirror and Midnight Black variants, while the company launched the Thunder Purple model later on as well. OnePlus seems to be planning to announce a special edition OnePlus 6T in the near future, as the McLaren and OnePlus event has been scheduled for December.
Impact: The OnePlus 6T has plenty to offer for its price tag, and the phone ships with Android 9 Pie out of the box, while the company keeps on improving the experience on the device by releasing constant firmware updates, and by doing that, improves its OxygenOS skin which ships on the of the device. This new update does not exactly bring a lot of features, only one, in fact, but once the company is done (for the most part) optimizing the device, we’ll probably start seeing more new features launching for the OnePlus 6T, so stay tuned for that.
