Samsung Heir Wanted "Breakthrough Camera Tech" For Galaxy S10

According to a new report by The Korea Herald, Samsung’s heir, Lee Jae-yong, actually showed quite a bit of interest in the Galaxy S10’s camera features, and the Galaxy S10 will offer “breakthrough camera technology” thanks to him. This information comes from “industry sources”, reports The Korea Herald.

The source writes that a senior official at Samsung, who remains unnamed, said that Samsung is working hard on “improving camera functions”, and that those camera functions “have been considered its weakness [on previous Galaxy devices]”. The company’s flagship lineup of devices always had admirable camera quality, pretty much, but it seems like that did not satisfy Samsung’s heir.

According to the report, Lee Jae-yong made a trip to Europe last year, and during his visit to a smartphone retailer, he talked to its employees, only to find out that they favor iPhone over Samsung’s flagship phone in terms of camera features… and that probably had something to do with Lee Jae-yong’s interesting in the Galaxy S10’s cameras.

Samsung’s official says that some users love camera quality on the company’s smartphones because they’re more vivid, while others prefer iPhone’s images as “such vividness causes fatigue in eyes”. So, it seems like the company came to the conclusion that Apple’s iPhones produce images that are more comfortable on the eyes. Samsung’s official also said that this is one point that the company is looking to improve upon with the Galaxy S10.

The report also claims that Samsung may utilize its newly-announced ISOCELL Slim 3T2 sensor in the Galaxy S10, as a selfie camera, or part of one. The ISOCELL Slim 3T2 was actually announced earlier today, and it is the industry’s most compact image sensor, claims Samsung. That image sensor is designed for hole punch and notch screens, said Samsung.

Coming very soon

Samsung will introduce its Galaxy S10 lineup of smartphones on February 20, it has been confirmed. The company is expected to introduce four Galaxy S10 smartphones this year, and at least three of them will be announced on February 20, the Galaxy S10E, S10, and S10+, while the S10 X may arrive at a later date.

All the Galaxy S10 smartphones will utilize either the Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855 SoC, depending on the market, while the Galaxy S10E, S10, and S10+ will sport a glass back, the Galaxy S10 X is rumored to ship with a ceramic backplate. The Galaxy S10 X is also rumored to include 10GB / 12GB of RAM, a 6.7-inch QHD+, curved, Super AMOLED display, and six cameras overall.

The Galaxy S10E will, allegedly, sport a flat Super AMOLED display, while all the other Galaxy S10 phones will ship with a curved panel. The Galaxy S10E is expected to sport a single camera on the front, two cameras on the back, and a side-facing fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy S10 and S10+ are said to include three cameras on the back, while the Galaxy S10 will include one camera on the front, and the Galaxy S10+ will ship with two selfie cameras. Both devices will include an in-display fingerprint scanner, according to rumors, same as the Galaxy S10 X.
