Earlier today, a Korean publication revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S10 series will be announced prior to MWC 2019 in San Francisco, in mid-February, and now, a well-known tipster has revealed the exact release date for Samsung’s upcoming flagships. According to Ice universe, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S10 series on February 20 in San Francisco. He not only revealed the exact announcement date for the Galaxy S10, but also re-confirmed that Samsung will host its press conference in San Francisco. Now, if a previous report is to be believed, Samsung has opted to announce the Galaxy S10 sooner than expected for two main reasons, first and foremost, this is the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy S series, so the company wanted to take all the spotlight for itself, which would not be the case at MWC 2019. In addition to that, Huawei is rumored to be preparing the announcement of its foldable smartphone for MWC 2019, so Samsung wanted to avoid that as well. Needless to say, this will be a global announcement of the Galaxy S10, after which several regional ones will follow, as per usual. The source did not reveal when will the Galaxy S10 become available for purchase, but it’s quite likely that pre-orders will kick off right after the event ends, we’ll see. In any case, it seems like the Galaxy S10 series will come sooner than expected, so we have something to look forward to, especially those of you who are planning to grab one of the Galaxy S10 handsets.
5G Galaxy S10 Probably Coming At A Later Date
Samsung is planning to announce four different variants of the Galaxy S10, and the most expensive one will be the company’s 5G-enabled Galaxy S10. That handset is expected to arrive later than the other three phones, which we’ll talk about in a little bit. The 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 will allegedly launch in March or April, and it will sport a similar design to all the other Galaxy S10 phones. The device will, however, include a ceramic backplate, while the other Galaxy S10 phones will ship with a glass back. The 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 is expected to sport four cameras (three if you opt to believe some other rumors) on the back, and two cameras on the front. Those two front-facing cameras will actually be display holes, and those two holes will be placed in the top-right portion of the phone’s display. The 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 is also expected to sport 12GB of RAM, as per rumors, though it will probably ship with less, if we’re being realistic. Rumors say that the phone will sport a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED curved display, and that it will ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Android 9 Pie will also be included, along with One UI Android overlay.
Other Galaxy S10 Models
Other than the 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 model, Samsung will also launch three additional Galaxy S10 models, which will be more affordable, the Galaxy S10 Lite (rumored to be called S10E), S10, and S10+. All of these phones will sport a glass back, and will generally look the same, but will be different in the size department, and the Galaxy S10+ will also differ in terms of cameras. The Galaxy S10 Lite / S10E will be the most affordable Galaxy S10 variant, it will arrive with 4GB / 6GB of RAM, a 5.8-inch flat Super AMOLED display, and a side-facing fingerprint scanner is also rumored. The phone will include two cameras on the back, and one on the front. The Galaxy S10, on the other hand, will sport a 6.1-inch curved, Super AMOLED display, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and the same camera setup as the Galaxy S10 Lite / S10E. The Galaxy S10+ will be considerably larger, as it will include a 6.4-inch curved Super AMOLED display, an in-display fingerprint scanner, at least 6GB of RAM, and three cameras on the back. The device will also sport two cameras on the front, and those two cameras will be located in the same place as the single front-facing camera on the Galaxy S10, in the top-right corner. Just like the 5G-enabled Galaxy S10, all of these phones will ship with Android 9 Pie, and Samsung’s One UI overlay. All the Galaxy S10 units will come in two processor variants for different markets, so we’re expecting to see both Exynos 9820 and Snapdragon 855 variants.
