Samsung Galaxy M30 Specs Leak, Show Huge Battery Capacity & Multiple Cameras

A new leak supplies details about the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy M30, one of the upcoming entry-level smartphone offerings of Samsung Electronics. Recent leaks claim that the device will feature a 6.38-inch display with a resolution of 2,220 by 1,080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The report also shows that the Galaxy M30 will have three rear cameras equipped with two 5-megapixel sensors and one 13-megapixel module. However, there is little information available about the lenses, aperture sizes, and other features of the three cameras. The device will also sport a single front-facing camera, which contains a 16-megapixel sensor. The report also claims that the Galaxy M30 will have a 5,000mAh battery, and the device will have a length of 159 millimeters, a width of 75.1 millimeters and a thickness of 8.4 millimeters.

Background: Based on recent reports, the Galaxy M30 may feature a waterdrop-shaped notch found above the handset’s screen as part of the handset’s Infinity-U display. This notch will contain the smartphone’s front-facing camera, and aside from the Galaxy M30, other devices of the Galaxy M lineup may also have this design feature.

Earlier reports also supplied hints on the hardware features of the Galaxy M30. This handset will be available in two hardware versions which differ primarily in the capacity of internal flash storage, recent rumors claim. One of the versions of the device will likely include 64GB of internal storage, while the other variant will reportedly have 128GB of storage. According to earlier rumors, there will also be two color options available for the device, which are blue and dark grey. The Galaxy M series handset will also reportedly feature dual-SIM card slots. There is no available information about the chipset included with the Galaxy M30, although an Exynos-branded octa-core chipset could power the smartphone like the Galaxy M20. Recent reports also mention that the Galaxy M series will feature LCD displays, rather than AMOLED displays found in the other smartphone offerings of the South Korean tech giant. The decision to use LCD panels should help reduce the production cost of the device.

The Galaxy M series is one of the smartphone lineups that Samsung Electronics will reportedly retain after the device maker merges its product offerings, and it will serve as the entry-level handset lineup of the company replacing the Galaxy J, C, and On series. Aside from the Galaxy M20 and the Galaxy M30, recent reports mention that the lineup will also include the Galaxy M10, the M40, and the M50, although unlike the other handsets, Samsung will likely market the Galaxy M50 as a mid-range device. Other handset lineups that Samsung will reportedly retain after the consolidation of its smartphone brands include the Galaxy A, the Galaxy S, and the Galaxy Note series.

Impact: While Samsung will likely market the Galaxy M30 as an entry-level handset, some of the specifications of the device are more commonly found in mid-range devices. These features include the three rear cameras and increased internal storage capacities. The improved naming convention and the incorporation of mid-range features should allow Samsung to better compete at the entry-level segment of the smartphone market. Nonetheless, more information about the device may become available soon as the launch of the handset comes closer.
