TicWatch E2 & S2 Smartwatches Get Low Prices To Go With Lack Of Features

Mobvoi has announced the availability of the TicWatch E2 and TicWatch S2. Both of them are available on Amazon beginning today. With the TicWatch E2 being priced at $159.99, and the TicWatch S2 at $179.99.

These new Google Wear OS-powered smartwatches were announced at CES just a few weeks ago, and now they are available to purchase. That’s a pretty quick turnaround for a product announced at CES. Typically those products don’t launch until the second half of the year.

The TicWatch S2 is the higher-end smartwatch, but really only in looks. The two smartwatches both sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, and also have 5 ATM waterproof rating, allowing users to take it into the pool and track their swimming.

The main difference between the two is the build. The TicWatch S2 is a more rugged smartwatch, sporting the US Military Standard 810G certification, so that it can take a few bumps, and even be exposed to some extreme temperatures and environments if need be. It does sport a nice carbon fiber ring around it that does really give it a nice looking design.

This year, Mobvoi decided to go to interchangeable bands with the TicWatch S2, so you’re going to be able to swap the silicon bands out for a leather or metal band. Though the included silicon band does look pretty good on the TicWatch S2, so that may not be something that everyone will do. With the move to interchangeable bands, the TicWatch S2 will likely suffer a bit on GPS, due to a change in the signal coming out of the watch. But it is going to be a better look for most people.

Mobvoi is also announcing that there are some new features coming to the TicWatch E2 and TicWatch S2 in the near future. This includes automated activity recognition, gesture control, fall detection, personal trainer and workout tracking. No word on when exactly these will be available on these two smartwatches, but they will be coming soon.

TicWatch E2 and S2 are both launching on some pretty old hardware from Qualcomm. The Snapdragon Wear 2100 is an older chipset, but it does still offer some pretty good battery life. The Snapdragon Wear 3100 is newer, but it doesn’t offer a lot of changes over the Snapdragon Wear 2100. So if that is a reason you’re thinking of not picking up either smartwatch, don’t let that be why.

The TicWatch E2 is a pretty good watch for its price. There are virtually no Wear OS smartwatches on the market that are priced at this level. Most Wear OS smartwatches are priced around $300 or higher. Which is what has made the TicWatch pretty popular in recent years. As it is a pretty good looking smartwatch and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Mobvoi’s newest smartwatches, the TicWatch E2 and TicWatch S2 are both available from Amazon right now. As mentioned, these are priced at $159 and $179 respectively. These are some of the cheapest smartwatches available. And you can pick them up using the links below.
