A Samsung TV ad for the upcoming Galaxy S10 flagship series appears to have been aired ahead of time by a commercial television broadcaster in Norway. The ad spotted by a reader of The Verge was recorded and later uploaded on YouTube, as seen in the video embedded below.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup is expected to comprise at least three smartphone models but the leaked TV ad at hand focuses primarily on the Galaxy S10+ model, while also briefly showcasing the new Galaxy Buds wireless earphones as well as the standard Samsung Galaxy S10 near the end of the video.
There is no mention of the flat-screened Samsung Galaxy S10e. For whatever reason, that particular model appears to be treated differently by the OEM. It might get its own separate TV ad but in this particular case, it seems like Samsung might want to maintain the public’s attention towards the two main variants.
But perhaps another reason why the Samsung Galaxy S10e has been left out might lie in the pre-order bonus for the other two variants. Specifically, the final few seconds of the TV ad seemingly confirm that the Samsung Galaxy Buds will indeed be included as a free pre-order bonus but only for the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ models. The text also reveals the wearable’s standard pricing.
By running the fine print “De trådløse hodetelefonene Galaxy Buds (verdi kr 1590, -) følger med ved forhåndskjøp av en Nordic Approved Galaxy S10 eller S10 + i perioden 20. februar til 7. mars 2019.” through Google Translate, the TV ad basically confirms that the Galaxy Buds will be included for free alongside every Galaxy S10 and S10+ pre-order between February 20 and March 7. Additionally, the text also confirms that, when purchased separately, the Galaxy Buds would carry a price tag of NOK 1,590 ($184).
So far only a couple of leaks from Russia and Vietnam have revealed the possibility of the wireless earbuds to be included as a pre-order bonus, but the TV ad pretty much sets this in stone. Now it only remains to be seen if this pre-order bonus will apply to every region or if it will be reserved only for certain markets.
The ad showcases a very familiar design for all of the three featured products given the amount of leaked renders so far, but for about two seconds it also shows the Galaxy Buds being wirelessly recharged by the Galaxy S10+ itself, confirming two main features. Firstly, the smartphone will have two-way/reversible wireless charging capabilities, and secondly, it looks like the redesigned charge case for the Galaxy Buds should be able to recharge its internal battery wirelessly as well.
Other details confirmed by the premature TV ad include a total of five cameras for the flagship phone – dual front-facing sensors and three rear-facing cameras – the inclusion of an ultrasonic-based in-display fingerprint sensor and incidentally a USB Type-C connector flanked by a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack and loudspeaker.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 series along with the Galaxy Buds and possibly the Galaxy Watch Active will be unveiled tomorrow during the OEM’s Unpacked event in San Francisco.
