The Samsung Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ have been certified by the FCC, and even though these documents do not reveal much info, some info has been revealed. These documents show us, first and foremost, some differences when it comes to the connectivity, as you will see in the three charts attached down below.
Before you start checking out what is provided, do keep in mind that the Galaxy S10e has been certified as the “G970”, or “SM-G970U” in this particular example. The Galaxy S10 carries the “G973” aka “SM-G973U” naming, while you will spot the Galaxy S10+ as the “G975”, or in this particular example, the “SM-G975U”.
In the provided charts, you will be able to see all the LTE bands that the three devices support, and it seems like the Galaxy S10 series will have the same LTE support like the Galaxy S9. This is not surprising at all, as the Galaxy S10 series is expected to ship with such connectivity, while the top-of-the-line Galaxy S10+ aka Galaxy S10 X will ship with 5G support, only that model will, and that variant has not popped up at the FCC.
Now, upon further inspection, you will notice that the NFC, Bluetooth, VoLLTE, WoWifi, GPS, and so on, remain unchanged compared to the Galaxy S9. The Galaxy S10 will ship with support for WiFi 6, 802.11ax, which is the newest WiFi protocol, and is an improvement over what the Galaxy S9 had to offer. Do keep in mind that this protocol needs a compatible router, though, you will not be able to use it with the vast majority of routers out there.
XDA Developers were able to notice an additional “Wireless Power Transfer” document, which reveals that the Galaxy S10 series will support “receiving or transmitting an AC power signal through magnetic induction (MI) or magnetic resonance (MR)”. What does this mean? Well, it seems to confirm that the Galaxy S10 series will support reverse wireless charging, as some rumors have been noting.
Four Galaxy S10 Variants Coming
The Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ got certified by the FCC, but one variant is missing, the rumored 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 handset, which is referred to as the top-of-the-line Galaxy S10+, and also the Galaxy S10 X, though it remains to be seen how accurate that naming is.
That variant of the Galaxy S10 will sport the same design as the Galaxy S10+, though it is rumored to ship with a ceramic backplate, instead of a glass, one, while it is also rumored to be larger than the regular Galaxy S10+. The 5G-enabled Galaxy S10+ will, allegedly, sport a 6.7-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED curved display, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and 12GB of RAM.
The regular Galaxy S10+, in comparison, is rumored to sport a 6.4-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED curved display, 6GB / 8GB of RAM, and also include an in-display fingerprint scanner. Storage count on those two devices will also be different, the 5G-enabled variant is rumored to offer more storage, up to 1TB. Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ on February 20 at its Unpacked event, while the 5G-enabled model will probably arrive later on, though the company may mention it during the event, we’ll see.
