Huawei P30 Pro Not Settling With 'Only' Three Cameras

Another alleged Huawei P30 Pro render surfaced online in China, showing part of the phone’s backside. As you can see, there are quite a few sensors included on the back of this phone, presuming the render is legit. You will actually notice four cameras on the rear plate – three regular ones and a ToF (Time-of-Flight) 3D sensor for scanning objects or whatever is in the frame.

The phone’s three main cameras are included on the left, and are vertically aligned, while the ToF sensor is located right next to them, and you will also notice an LED flash below the phone’s rear-facing cameras, and Leica branding as well, as the P30 Pro will ship with Leica’s sensors, just like its predecessors… the same can be said for the P30 as well, actually. That camera setup on the back is not the prettiest out there, that’s for sure, but if it ends up being great, very few people will have an objection to that.

This render also confirms, more or less, that the device will be made out of metal and glass, like its predecessors, and that it will sport curved corners on the back. The power / lock, volume up, and volume down buttons are also visible in the provided render, and all of them are located on the right.

Now, as far as the phone’s cameras are concerned, we still do not know what sensors will Huawei opt for, but some rumors have been saying that the company plans to use Sony’s 38-megapixel IMX607 sensor as its main camera, while other rumors say that the periscope-like camera technology will be utilized by the company as well, though it remains to be seen if there is any truth to these rumors.

For comparison purposes, both the Huawei P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro shipped with 40, 20, and 8-megapixel cameras on the back, and they did not include the ToF 3D sensor. A 24-megapixel camera was included on the front side of both phones, and a similar selfie camera may sit on the front of the P30 Pro.

What Else Do We Know?

The Huawei P30 Pro did surface several times thus far, though we have seen some conflicting renders out there, so we’re not entirely sure which one to believe. In any case, the P30 Pro is expected to sport a teardrop notch on the front, same goes for the P30, actually.

Every single render that leaked thus far suggested that the phone will include a really thin “chin” below the display, while the rest of its bezels will basically be non-existent. The phone’s display will sport rounded corners, while the P30 Pro will utilize in-display fingerprint scanner, just like the Mate 20 Pro, as a fingerprint scanner was not visible in either render that leaked.

In terms of specs, the P30 Pro is actually expected to sport a rather large display, the P20 Pro included a 6.1-inch panel, so the P30 Pro may ship with a similar display, Huawei may even opt for a slightly larger display, at 6.2 or 6.3 inches. That will be a QHD+ display, and we’re expecting to see an OLED panel being included.

The Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor will probably fuel the device, unless Huawei opts to release the Kirin 985, as some rumors suggested. One of the P30 Pro variants will ship with 5G connectivity, if rumors are to be believed, while the device will include at least 6GB of RAM, and ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box, with Huawei’s custom UI on top of it.
