The Samsung Galaxy Buds set to succeed last year’s Gear IconX wireless earbuds have been spotted in a new image gallery shared by WinFuture. The images confirm that the Galaxy Buds will be available in Canary Yellow aside from the usual black and white colors, and furthermore, they reveal some minor design changes for both the earbuds as well as the charging case.
The image gallery below reveals that unlike last year’s Gear IconX, the Galaxy Buds will have only two pogo pin connectors instead of five, as well as two circular sensor housings instead of a single rectangular sensor. Likewise, the charging case now has an indentation for easier opening, and inside the case the two cradles for each of the earbuds have been redesigned and slightly moved around, presumably to contribute to a smaller overall package. The exterior Samsung logo on the case is now accompanied by AKG branding, suggesting that this year the new earbuds may have been audio-tuned by the Samsung-owned acoustics manufacturing company.
The color yellow for the Galaxy Buds was indirectly confirmed last week when a list of accessories for the Samsung Galaxy S10 series leaked alongside live photos depicting various protective cases and covers. The list also mentioned the earbuds in the colors black, white, and yellow, the latter of which was likely created by Samsung for Galaxy S10e prospective buyers.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup will arrive in at least three main variants, with the Galaxy S10e being the only flat-screened model and the only variant to have been spotted in the color Canary Yellow so far. This is the same vibrant shade of yellow showcased by the Galaxy Buds in the image gallery below.
Furthermore, a couple of leaks so far suggest that Samsung Galaxy S10 pre-orders will include a free pair of Galaxy Buds at least in a couple of regions, with Russia and Vietnam being the prime contenders so far, particularly because that’s where the initial leaks originated. As yet it’s unclear whether this generous pre-order bonus will apply for every Galaxy S10 variant or only to specific models like the higher-end Galaxy S10+, but nonetheless the Canary Yellow Galaxy Buds seem to go hand-in-hand with the Galaxy S10e sharing the same color.
The new Galaxy Buds are expected to be unveiled later this week on February 20 alongside the new flagship phone series as well as a newly redesigned smartwatch. Pricing for the Galaxy Buds remains unclear but last year’s Gear IconX launched for $199, so the newer generation will likely fit in a similar price range. It remains to be seen if the Galaxy Buds have received any other upgrades in terms of battery life and fitness applications, or if the new color and slight exterior redesign coupled with the AKG branding will be the main new features differentiating the upcoming earbuds from the older models.
An expected but unconfirmed feature is the new charging case’s ability to draw electrical current wirelessly from compatible devices, one of which could be the Samsung Galaxy S10 flagship expected to offer two-way wireless charging capabilities, or “Powershare” as Samsung will seemingly advertise the technology in its home country and possibly elsewhere. More details are bound to be revealed on February 20 during Samsung’s Unpacked event in San Francisco.
