Samsung has finally announced the Galaxy A30 and A50, two mid-range smartphones that have been leaking for a long time now. These two phones are quite similar in terms of the design, though there are some differences, as the Galaxy A50 is the more powerful of the two devices, and that is the device we’ll talk about first.
Galaxy A50
The Galaxy A50 is made out of metal and glass, while it comes with a tiny display notch on the front, a waterdrop notch. Inside of that notch, you will notice a front-facing camera, while the phone’s earpiece is placed right above it. The device sport a “chin” below the display, while its volume up, volume down, and power / lock buttons are located on the right. The device does not sport a dedicated Bixby button, but it does ship with Bixby as part of Samsung’s software, of course.
On the back of the phone, you will sport three cameras, those three cameras are vertically-aligned, and are located in the top-left portion of the device, while an LED flash sits below them. A fingerprint scanner is not visible on this device, because it is included below its display. Samsung’s branding is placed where the rear-facing fingerprint scanner usually lies, though.
The Galaxy A50 features a 6.4-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) Super AMOLED Infinity-U display, while it is fueled by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, but Samsung did not say which SoC that is. It is possible that we’re looking at the Exynos 9610 here, but Samsung will need to confirm that information.
The phone packs in 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card). The phone includes a 4,000mAh non-removable battery, and a 25-megapixel camera (f/2.0 aperture) sits on its front side. 25-megapixel (f/1.7 aperture), 5-megapixel (f/2.2 aperture), and 8-megapixel (f/2.2 aperture) cameras are placed on the back of the phone.
The Galaxy A50 measures 158.5 x 74.7 x 7.7mm, while Samsung did not reveal how much the phone weighs. The device does come with fast charging, while Samsung Pay (market dependent), Bixby Vision, Bixby Voice, Bixby Home, and Bixby Reminder features are all included here. Samsung did not reveal what version of Android ships on this phone, but it’s probably Android 9 Pie. The phone will ship in Black, White, Blue, and Coral colors
Galaxy A30
The Galaxy A30 resembles the Galaxy A50 in terms of the design quite a bit, and it’s even the same size as its sibling. The Galaxy A30 sports two cameras on the back, unlike the Galaxy A50, while it also comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, a regular capacitive unit. Other than that, it’s the same as the Galaxy A50 in terms of the design.
The Galaxy A30 sports a 6.4-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) Super AMOLED Infinity-U panel, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card). A 4,000mAh battery is included in this phone, same as in the Galaxy A50, while the Galaxy A30 is fueled by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, but Samsung did not reveal which chip exactly, even though this one is different than the one included in the Galaxy A50. It is possible this is the Exynos 7904, but we’re not sure yet.
The phone includes 16-megapixel (f/1.7 aperture) and 5-megapixel (f/2.2 aperture) cameras on the back, while a single 16-megapixel (f/2.0 aperture) camera is located on the device’s front side. The phone measures 158.5 x 74.7 x 7.7mm, while it also supports fast charging, and Samsung Pay (market dependent). Bixby Home and Bixby Reminder are included here as well.
The two phones will go on sale in mid-March, though Samsung did share any additional details regarding the availability of these two phones. The Galaxy A30 and A50 will probably hit India first, though.
