The extensively-leaked and rumored Samsung Galaxy A50 has seemingly taken another big step towards market availability, as the support landing page for the device bearing the model number SM-A505F/DS appears to have been prematurely published online over the weekend by Samsung India.
Additionally, tech blog Droid Shout has acquired a handful of screenshots which have reportedly been pulled from the smartphone’s official user manual, and the leak reveals the device’s overall design along with several hardware specifications.
According to the leaked data, the Samsung Galaxy A50 will feature an Infinity-U display meaning it will have a teardrop notch at the top and will be surrounded by fairly thin bezels all around. The leaked schematics confirm that the device will take advantage of an in-display fingerprint sensor, but it remains to be seen whether the unit will be based on optical or ultrasonic technology, the latter of which is generally considered more accurate but also more expensive and difficult to acquire.
The leaked images further confirm the inclusion of a USB Type-C connector and a 3.5mm headphone jack, along with NFC and GPS connectivity, a dual SIM tray with one slot doubling as a microSD card slot, as well as an MST antenna for contactless payments. Interestingly, the device appears to feature only a volume rocker as well as a physical power key which seemingly doubles as a Bixby button.
Previous leaks surrounding the unannounced Samsung Galaxy A50 indicate that the device will be equipped with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display bearing a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080, and rely on the Exynos 9610 chipset. The chipset released last year is based on four ARM Cortex-A73 CPU cores clocked at up to 2.3GHz along with an additional quad-core unit based on ARM Cortex-A53 cores, operating at up to 1.7GHz. The processor is coupled with an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 graphics chip and supports LPDDR4x RAM as well as UFS 2.1 and eMMC 5.1 storage.
It’s unclear exactly when the Samsung Galaxy A50 will be released but given the premature listing of its support page in India, it will likely be introduced by the OEM in the following weeks. Preliminary leaks also indicate that it won’t be the only device in the series and that it will be accompanied by the Samsung Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A30, both of which are expected to have lesser components and lower launch prices.
Samsung recently launched the new Galaxy M series in India much to Xiaomi’s discontent, and it generally covers the lower end of the market. Likewise the Galaxy A series should be more budget-conscious compared to the OEM’s flagship phones but it should offer a few extra features and/or upgraded components over the Galaxy M. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S10 series of flagships will be officially unveiled in just a couple of days, and it, too, should be launched in India in a matter of weeks following a pre-order period. It remains to be seen whether the Samsung Galaxy A50 or Galaxy S10 will be the first to market.
