Huawei has announced the Nova 4e handset in China, and by announcing this phone the company more or less showed us what can we expect the P30 Lite to bring. The Huawei P20 Lite was modeled after the Nova 3e, so the same will almost certainly happen this year with the P30 Lite and Nova 4e.
The Huawei Nova 4e is a phone made out of glass and metal. This handset’s back side is curved, while the phone comes with a teardrop notch at the top of its display. A thin “chin” is included below the display, while its display sports rounded corners. All the physical keys are located on the right-hand side of the device, its volume up, volume down, and power / lock buttons.
The device includes three vertically-aligned cameras on the back, with an LED flash included below them. A fingerprint scanner also sits on the back of this phone, and the same can be said for Huawei’s branding. The phone’s rear-facing cameras do protrude a bit, but not by much, it seems.
Now, in terms of specs, this is a mid-range handset. The device features a 6.15-inch fullHD+ (2312 x 1080) display with a 19.5:9 display aspect ratio, and a 2.5D curved glass on top of it. The phone also includes 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card)
The device is fueled by the Kirin 710 64-bit octa-core processor, while Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the phone, with Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 9.0 skin. A 3,340mAh battery is also a part of the package, and it is not removable, while it supports fast charging. This phone supports dual 4G VoLTE connectivity, Bluetooth 4.2, and Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz).
24-megapixel (f/1.8 aperture), 2-megapixel, and 8-megapixel (120-degree ultra-wide lens) cameras are included on the back of the Nova 4e, while a single 32-megapixel unit sits on the phone’s front side. There are two SIM card slots included inside of this phone, two nano SIM card slots, and considering this is a hybrid setup, you can utilize one of those two slots in order to expand the phone’s storage using a microSD card.
The Huawei Nova 4e comes in Midnight Black, Pearl White, and Gradient Blue color variants, while its 4GB and 6GB RAM variants are priced at 1,999 Yuan ($297) and 2,299 Yuan ($342) in China. The phone will go on sale in China later today, and this handset will be re-announced as the Huawei P30 Lite for global markets, almost certainly.
The Huawei P30 Lite will become official on March 26, as that is when Huawei scheduled a press conference for its P30 series of devices. The P30 series phones will be announced in Paris, and along with the P30 Lite, Huawei will also unveil the P30 and P30 Pro flagship smartphones. The Huawei P30 Lite will probably look the same as the Nova 4e, and its spec sheet will also be quite similar, probably, as the P30 Lite is expected to be a rebranded variant of the Nova 4e with global software, of course.
