As the Huawei P30 series draws nearer to its unveiling in Paris, the three devices expected to comprise the lineup have obtained certifications from Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) and two Indonesian regulatory agencies, reveals a report by tech blog 5GMobilePhone. The documents reveal a couple of hardware details pertaining to the memory configurations which should be made available at launch.
The model number ELE-L29 and VOG-L29 have been spotted in the NCC database and they are believed to be connected with the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, respectively. The papers reveal that the Huawei P30 will be launched in two configurations including 6GB or 8GB of RAM, coupled with 128GB of built-in storage.
The VOG-L29 / Huawei P30 Pro, on the other hand, comes in one RAM configuration set at 8GB, and either 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage. Given the naming scheme, it comes as no surprise that the Huawei P30 Pro is the better-equipped variant of the upcoming series.
At the other end of the spectrum is the Huawei P30 Lite which was reportedly approved by Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Communication and Information, along with the ELE-L29 and VOG-L29. The Lite variant carries the model number MAR-LX2, adding to other two existing model numbers including MAR-LX1M and MAR-TL00, the latter of which was spotted at TENAA (China’s FCC equivalent) last month.
How Will The Huawei P30 Lite Compare To Its Siblings?
Huawei’s upcoming series or at least the upper-tier P30 Pro has been confirmed to include a powerful camera setup with impressive optical zoom capabilities. The P30 Lite will carry three main cameras on the back panel and the configuration should make use of Leica optics, same as with the other two higher-end variants. The Huawei P30 Lite might lack the periscope-style camera and the optical zoom feature could be reserved only for the P30 Pro.
The Huawei P30 Lite will have a 6.15-inch display and a 3,240mAh battery, according to earlier reports discovered over the past couple of months. Unlike the other two models expected to embed a fingerprint sensor into the display, the P30 Lite will have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and possibly other downgrades which will help it remain consistent with its moniker and launch for a more affordable price.
It remains to be seen whether it will use the same HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset as expected from the P30 and P30 Pro. Even so, neither one of these devices will be able to take full advantage of the chipset’s incorporated 5G Balong 5000 modem in markets that continue to be limited to 4G networks.
The new smartphone series will be unveiled by Huawei on March 26 at an event in Paris, meaning that all three models should be scheduled for a market release in Europe and other regions including Taiwan and Indonesia judging by the recent regulatory approvals.
Pricing will be a huge factor determining the series’ success, but the Huawei P30 Pro, at the very least, won’t face much opposition from rival devices in terms of optical zoom and this sense of relative uniqueness is bound to turn some heads.
