Huawei P30 Pro Hands-On Video Demos In-Display Fingerprint Scanner: Leak

The Huawei P30 Pro has been leaking for quite some time now, and a new piece of the puzzle has just appeared on bilibili (Chinese video streaming platform), though that video has been re-uploaded to YouTube for embeding purposes. The Huawei P30 Pro surfaced in a short hands-on video which demonstrates the phone’s in-display fingerprint scanner, it essentially lets you see the unlocking procedure.

In this video, the person who filmed it tilts the phone upwards, just a little bit, until a fingerprint icon appears on the display. Once that happens, he puts his finger on it and the phone unlocks really fast. This is a standard way of unlocking phones with in-display fingerprint scanners, pretty much.

We are still not sure whether Huawei will utilize an optical or an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner (like in the Galaxy S10 series) in the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, but if they go the Mate 20 Pro route, then we’ll see an optical one.

As you can see, the Huawei P30 Pro will feature really thin bezels, and a tiny notch at the top of the display. The phone’s bottom bezel is barely visible, and the phone’s display is curved. This video also reconfirms that the volume up, volume down, and power / lock buttons will be included on the right-hand side of the phone. The device itself, however, will be made out of metal and glass.

This video does not show us the back side of the device, but we’ve already seen that part of the phone in leaked renders. The Huawei P30 Pro will feature three vertically-aligned cameras on the back, and will be able to utilize a 10x hybrid (optical) zoom. Those three cameras will be included in the top-left portion of the Huawei P30 Pro.

The Huawei P30 Pro actually surfaced in real-life images yesterday, and a bunch of renders appeared quite recently as well, as the P30 Pro leaked alongside its sibling, the Huawei P30. Those two devices will essentially be Huawei’s new flagship phones, while the P30 Lite will be a mid-range offering from the company. All three devices are set to be announced on March 26 in Paris, as Huawei already announced that event.

The Huawei P30 Pro will feature a 6.47-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) OLED display, which will be curved. The phone will be fueled by the Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor, just like the Huawei P30. That is Huawei’s flagship processor, and it is already fueling the company’s flagship Mate 20 lineup.

The P30 Pro will include 8GB of RAM, while three storage variants will be available, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB options. A 4,200mAh non-removable battery will also be a part of the offering, and Huawei’s SuperCharge fast charging will also be included in the package.

On the back of the device, 40, 20, and 8-megapixel cameras will sit, while the device will come with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The phone will include a 32-megapixel selfie camera, and it is said to ship in Black, White, Blue, and Orange color variants. The phone will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, but it will probably ship with support for fast wireless charging.
