Huawei P30 vs P30 Pro – Here Are The Differences

Huawei had introduced its P30 and P30 Pro flagship earlier today in Paris, and even though the two phones are quite similar in both the design and specifications, they’re not identical. There are actually quite a few differences between these two phones, and we’re here to talk about those differences, so that you can make a more informed decision when purchasing a new phone.

The Huawei P30 is smaller, but that’s not all

The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are both made out of metal and glass, and they sport identical curves on the back. These two devices come with a really thin “chin” below the display, and a tiny display notch. Both phones include rounded display corners, while physical keys are also placed in the same spot on both devices. The volume up, down, and power / lock keys can be found on the right, in that order, from the top to bottom.

As you can notice by looking at the two phones, they are not identical. These two phones are different in size, the Huawei P30 comes with a smaller display. The Huawei P30 is both shorter, and narrower than the P30 Pro. The most obvious difference when looking at these two phones has got to be their front design, as the P30 includes a flat display, while the P30 Pro ships with a curved panel.

If we flip the two devices on the back, you will notice some additional differences. Both devices include three vertically-aligned cameras which are placed in the top-left corner on the back, but those sensors are different, and that is visible when looking at these two phones. The Huawei P30 Pro’s camera setup is larger, and the bottom sensor offers a squarish design, compared to all the others, which are round. The P30 Pro also has some additional sensors right to the camera setup, unlike the P30. The P30 Pro’s dual_LED light is included next to its main camera setup, while the P30’s lies below its rear-facing cameras.

The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro both include a Type-C USB port on the back, but in addition to that USB port, the P30 comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is not something that is available on the P30 Pro.

CPU, RAM & Storage

The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro do ship with the same processor, but there are some differences when it comes to both RAM and storage on these two phones. Huawei’s Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor fuels both of these devices, that is the company’s 7nm 64-bit octa-core chip which fuels the company’s Mate 20 flagship series as well.

The Huawei P30 comes in one setup only, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. The Huawei P30 Pro, on the other hand, includes 8GB of RAM, and includes three different storage variants. The larger P30 phone is available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage models, all of which offer microSD storage expansion.

Display, Battery & Camera

The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro do sport the same display technology, but their displays are not the same. The Huawei P30 includes a 6.1-inch fullHD+ OLED display, while the P30 Pro ships with a 6.47-inch fullHD+ OLED unit. The Huawei P30’s display is flat, while the P30 Pro’s is curved, so they’re quite different.

These two phones also ship with different battery capacities, and battery features. The Huawei P30 includes a 3,650mAh battery, while the P30 Pro ships with a 4,200mAh unit. The Huawei P30 supports 22.5W fast wired charging, while the P30 Pro ups that to 44W. Both phones support 15W wireless charging (Qi standard), while the P30 Pro also includes reverse wireless charging, unlike the P30.

Differences are also quite noticeable when it comes to cameras as well, both phones include a 32-megapixel camera on the front, but their rear-facing units are different. The Huawei P30 ships with 40-megapixel (f/1.8 aperture, 27mm) main camera, 16-megapixel (f/2.2, 17mm) wide-angle unit, and an 8-megapixel (f/2.4, 80mm) 3x telephoto camera (5x hybrid zoom, 30x digital zoom). The Huawei P30 Pro, on the other hand, features 40-megapixel (f/1.6 aperture, 27mm) main camera, 20-megapixel (f/2.2, 16mm) wide-angle camera, and an 8-megapixel (f/3.4 aperture, 125mm) 5x telephoto lens. The P30 Pro supports 10x hybrid (optical) zoom, and it also packs in ToF sensor. The phone can provide 50x digital zoom, though, and 10x hybrid zoom.

Huawei has announced a number of color variant for the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. The Huawei P30 comes in Amber Sunrise, and Breathing Crystal, Pearl White, Aurora, and Black options, while the same goes for the P30 Pro.
