Samsung Electronics announced it’s holding its next mobile product event in three weeks’ time, with the new happening having been scheduled for April 10. The company will almost certainly be presenting new additions to the Galaxy A line on the occasion, with the upcoming handsets reportedly being closer than ever to their flagship peers, hence already generating a reasonable amount of global interest. The short video clip included with the company’s announcement shows three screens and the tagline “A Galaxy Event,” which points toward the number of Galaxy A-branded smartphones that are likely to launch next month.
Samsung will live-stream the event but it’s still unclear when or where will the gathering be taking place. Given that state of affairs, it seems industry watchers are in for an online-only happening.
Recent leaks and certificates suggest the Galaxy A70 will be part of the incoming trio of Android handsets. The Wi-Fi Alliance recently certified the said device, and previous reports claim that the handset maker will launch this model as early as next month. Earlier rumors state that the Galaxy A70 will sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution, an under-display fingerprint sensor, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of flash storage, and a 4,400mAh battery. The rear panel of the handset supposedly houses a vertically arranged triple-camera setup, while its display notch is understood to be sporting a single front-facing camera.
Another related handset that recently received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance is the Galaxy A60, and this certification also indicates that Samsung may launch the gadget soon. Reportedly featuring the same display size as the Galaxy A70, the Galaxy A60 will include either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, according to older reports. Another leaked specification sheet already indicated that in comparison to the Galaxy A70, the Galaxy A60 will feature a higher-capacity 4,500mAh battery and 128GB of storage space. The Snapdragon 675 chipset will allegedly power the Galaxy A60, with the Android smartphone also being expected to include an under-screen fingerprint sensor.
It is also likely that Samsung will launch the Galaxy A40 at the same event. Earlier benchmark results indicate that the device will sport the Exynos 7885 chipset, and unlike the other Galaxy A-branded devices, it’s likely to offer a smaller RAM capacity of 4GB. There is little information available about other specifications of the device, although recent reports state that Samsung will sell the handset in Europe for €249, which translates to $283 at the current exchange rate.
Last month, Samsung already announced two devices that are part of the Galaxy A lineup, which are the Galaxy A30 and the Galaxy A50. Furthermore, the South Korean tech giant will reportedly unveil the Galaxy A90 and the Galaxy A20e. According to industry insiders, the Galaxy A90 will sport a sliding and rotating camera setup, allowing the imaging module to function as both front-facing and rear shooters. Recent leaks also show that Samsung designed this handset with gamers in mind. On the other hand, there is little information available about the Galaxy A20e except for its model number SM-A202F.
While numerous leaks already provided many details about the specifications and designs of the upcoming Galaxy A devices, Samsung will obviously deliver more information about the key selling points of its products at the April 10 launch event, elaborating how it intends to take on aggressively priced Chinese rivals that have been stealing its market share for several years now moving forward.
