Some new info regarding Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A smartphone has just leaked, info regarding the Galaxy A80 / A90. Both the Galaxy A80 and A90 are mentioned here because we’re still unsure what the phone will be called, but we’re looking at a single device here, not two of them.
Samsung had already announced several Galaxy A models this year including the Galaxy A30, A50, and A70, but the most powerful Galaxy A-branded device is yet to land, and if we’re going by sheer logic, its name will be the Galaxy A90, not the Galaxy A80 as some rumors are hinting. Samsung had introduced the Galaxy A30, A50, and A70 thus far, so it’s logical to assume that the A90 is coming next, not the A80.
The company had scheduled a press conference for April 10 recently, clearly hinting that a Galaxy A-branded phone(s) is coming, and it’s quite possible that the Galaxy A90 will be announced during that event. Having said that, a Weibo (Chinese social network) user called “Martian-V” has shared the aforementioned info, and in his post, he spilled the beans on Galaxy A90 specifications.
According to the source, the Galaxy A90 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 7150 (SDM7150) 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz, while the device will feature a 6.7-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) OLED display. The phone will include three cameras, 48-megapixel (f2.0 aperture), 8-megapixel (f/2.4 aperture), and a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. Now, what’s interesting is, that those three cameras will serve as both rear-facing and front-facing shooters.
If you’re out of the loop, this may sound really weird to you, and you’re probably wondering how is it possible. Well, according to leaks, those three cameras will sit on the back of the device until you flip the switch to a selfie mode in the camera app, then all three cameras will first pop-up, and then rotate to become front-facing units. So, not only will the Galaxy A90 sport pop-up camera, but also rotating ones.
The device itself is said to sport no notches or display holes, and the source claims that the device will support 25W fast charging as well. The phone will measure 165 x 76.5 x 9mm, and weigh 219 grams, if the source’s info is accurate. A 3,700mAh battery was also mentioned by the source, and that is pretty much all the info that Martian-V shared.
If leaks are to be believed, the Galaxy A90 will be made out of metal and glass, just like its siblings. The phone will include all of its physical keys on the right, and a thin “chin” will be located below the display. Its display will feature rounded corners, and the device will almost certainly ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box. On top of Google’s operating system, you will be able to find Samsung’s very own One UI Android overlay, same as on other recent Galaxy-branded smartphones. That is more or less all the info that we have at the moment, but Samsung will probably share far more information about the device on April 10, when the phone is expected to become official.
