Google Vows To Help You Work From Home With New Filter

The world’s most popular search engine, Google, is already used by many people around the world to look for jobs. Since sifting through results could be quite cumbersome, the search giant has now announced that it has refined its job search options. The new features are basically aimed at people looking for remote job opportunities.

In the past few years, the number of people choosing to work from home has increased significantly. People usually resort to social networking websites or online job portals to look for a job and the process is often time-consuming. When conducting a direct Google search, there is a risk of being redirected to a malicious website or a phony job. In some case, shady companies also scam people by disappearing once the job is done, leaving people without a remuneration.

To improve the job search experience, Google has now added tools that will facilitate both employers and job hunters. The service is currently available in the U.S. but hopefully, it will be rolled out to other locations in the future.

With the new features, job searchers will be able to search for home based jobs on the basis of their skills set. For an industry-wide search, there is also an option to search for “work from home jobs” to explore all open opportunities.

The new tools will also be equally beneficial for employers, as Google will use something called Schema.org markup, which is already being used by a number of job websites to post their listing on Google Jobs. This will allow employers to post jobs along with any requirements they might have such as geographic limitations and whether the job is home based or office based.

Google already has numerous job listing websites on board, including We Work Remotely, ZipRecruiter, and Working Nomads. As more websites implement the Schema.org markup, the number of jobs that turn up on Google will also increase. The home-based jobs posted using Google’s Cloud Talent Solution will also show up in the filtered results if they are marked as remote opportunities by the employers and job boards.

Google apparently conducted a number of studies to arrive at the conclusion that most remote job listings didn’t explicitly state their nature and this made it difficult for people to accurately identify work from home opportunities. With the new tools in place, Google hopes to make it easier for job seekers and job providers to discover each other.

There are a million of job openings in the U.S. at any given time and while there are a number of paid job portals such as Career Builder and Jobs.com that can help you land your dream job, Google is a better option if you do not want to spend a dime. The search engine brings together listings from across the web to make it easier for people to find a job. The search can further be narrowed down with the help of additional filters such as title, location, or employer. With the addition of new tools, the search engine would definitely become all the more important for job seekers.
