Huawei's EMUI 9.1 Update Coming To Crazy Number Of Handsets

Huawei has officially confirmed that its Emotion UI (EMUI) 9.1 update will be coming to 49 older Huawei and HONOR devices. Needless to say, this is an insane number of devices this update will be coming to, and we rarely see a company announce something like this, though Xiaomi and Huawei are an exception in this regard.

You can check out a full list of devices that the update will be coming to if you check the image down below, but we’ll mention a few of the most popular ones here: the Huawei Mate 20, 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, Mate 20 RS, Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate RS, Mate 8, P20, P20 Pro, P10, P10 Plus, and so on.

Huawei did not exactly release an exact changelog for the Emotion UI (EMUI) 9.1 update, compared to EMUI 9, but we do know that it brings improvements to the GPU Turbo mode, which is always a welcomed change, as such changes will boost power-hungry tasks on a phone, such as playing games, for example.

On top of that, incoming call videos for contacts are also coming with this update, while optimizations for HiVoice are also included here. Once you get this update, you will also be able to call upon a voice assistant of your choice through a long press of the power button, while improvements to PC continuity are also included in the update. More changes are coming, and we’ll know more once the company releases a full changelog for EMUI 9.1.

It is worth noting that EMUI 9.1 beta versions are already available for the Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, an Mate 20 RS Porsche Design. The update is in testing for a bunch of other devices from both Huawei and HONOR, so you can expect to see this update starts rolling out to a ton of phones in the near future.

Just to be clear, the Huawei P30 series is not listed along with other Huawei and HONOR devices because those devices ship with EMUI 9.1 out of the box, at least the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro do, the P30 Lite may include EMUI 9, we’re not sure. Both EMUI 9 and 9.1 are based on Android 9 Pie, though that is a given.

The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro were announced last month during a press conference in Paris, and both of those devices are heavily focused on the camera. The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are for sure amongst the best camera smartphones in the market at the moment, and many would say that they’re the best out there. The Huawei P30 Pro even comes with the much-talked-about periscope-style camera, which enables the phone to utilize that crazy zoom capability. The Huawei P30 also features similar zoom capability, but not to the extent of the Huawei P30 Pro, not even close.

Both devices are fueled by the Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor, which is the most powerful chip Huawei has to offer at the moment. Both devices are made out of metal and glass, sport a really thin “chin” below the display, and a tiny dewdrop notch at the top of the display. Three cameras are included on the back booth devices, while the P30 Pro also includes a ToF sensor on the back. You can read more about these two phones by clicking here.
