Two Huawei-branded, 5G-ready smartphones will become available soon, and some info regarding one of them just surfaced. The two phones in question are the company’s first foldable smartphone, the Huawei Mate X, and the Mate 20 X flagship phablet that we’re here to talk about.
According to an industry insider, the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G will feature a considerably smaller battery than its 4G counterpart. The Huawei Mate 20 X comes with a 5,000mAh battery, which is not surprising considering that the phone includes a 7.2-inch fullHD+ display. The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G will sport a 4,200mAh unit, if the source is to be believed, but in order to compensate for that, Huawei may include faster charging.
The regular Mate 20 X variant includes 22.5W fast charging, just like the Huawei P30, while the Mate 20 X 5G will ship with 40W charging if the source is to be believed, which means that it will include same wired charging speed as the Huawei P30 Pro. This essentially means that the Mate 20 X 5G users should be able to get from 0 to 70-percent in approximately 30 minutes.
Now, the 4,200mAh unit may seem a bit small for a phone with such a large display, and 5G connectivity on top of that, but it is worth noting that both the Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro include that very same battery, and they offer stellar battery life. Truth be said, both of those phones ship with a smaller display, and neither of them can connect to 5G, but still, just because a battery will be smaller doesn’t mean that the battery life will be bad, we’ll just have to wait and see.
We do know that the Huawei Mate X will go on sale this summer, but we’re still not sure when will the Mate 20 X 5G land. Chances are that the device will become available at the same time as the Huawei Mate X, though, if not before it, but we’re only guessing at this point, as Huawei did not reveal any official info regarding it.
The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G will ship with the company’s brand new Balong 5000 chipset for 5G connectivity, it supports standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) network architectures for 5G. This essentially means that it will be able to connect to existing 4G networks as well as upcoming 5G networks.
The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G will feature the same design as its counterpart, and the vast majority of the specs as well. The phone will be made out of metal and glass, while it will sport a tiny notch at the top of the display. A thin “chin” will be included below the display, while the phone will sport three cameras on the back, along with an LED flash. A rear-facing fingerprint scanner will be included as well, a regular capacitive unit.
The phone will be fueled by the Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor, while it will probably arrive either in both 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, or just in an 8GB RAM flavor. 40, 20, and 8-megapixel cameras will be placed on the back of the phone, along with Leica’s lenses, same as on the 4G variant. Stereo speakers will be included as well, and so on, it will essentially be the same as the 4G variant with the addition of 5G connectivity.
