The Huawei Mate X had surfaced on Vmall, and even though the listing has been quickly taken down, that listing may have revealed the phone’s release date. Vmall is Huawei’s online store in China, so information shared on it can be considered official. Well, according to the listing, the Huawei Mate X will go on sale in June.
The listing is no longer there, but someone managed to grab a screenshot of the listing, as it’s usually the case. Do keep in mind that the Huawei Mate X is the company’s very first 5G smartphone, in addition to being its first foldable device, so many people are actually looking forward to its arrival, despite its huge price tag.
Considering this is the company’s online store in China, it’s safe to assume that the phone will become available in the company’s homeland in June, though that still makes us wonder when will it hit other markets, such as Europe. It is possible, and even probably, that it will arrive in both Asia and Europe in June, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Huawei did confirm, back in February when the phone launched, that the device will become available in mid-2019, but the company did not share any more info regarding it. So, this June release date actually fits that equation perfectly, as we’d guess either June or July. The Huawei Mate X will, unfortunately, cost €2,300 in Europe, so many people will be scared away by this price tag.
The Huawei Mate X is the company’s very first foldable smartphone, though, and Huawei is probably not looking to sell a ton of them, as it also has limited production capability for the device.
The Huawei Mate X was announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, back in February this year. The phone is made out of metal and glass, and its rear-facing cameras also serve as its front-facing ones, depending on whether the phone is folded or not. The device does not have a display notch or a display hole included on its display, while its bezels are also quite thin.
The Huawei Mate X’s panel, when unfolded, measures 8 inches, and comes with a resolution of 2480 x 2200. When folded, you’re left with a 6.6-inch panel, and this is an OLED display, in case you were wondering. The phone sports 8GB of RAM and 512GB of expandable storage. 40, 16, and 8-megapixel cameras are included on the phone, while Leica’s lenses are a part of the offering. The phone is fueled by the Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor, Huawei’s most powerful chip to date.
A 4,500mAh battery is also a part of the package and 55W fast charging will be included in the package. A 3.5mm headphone jack is not a part of the Huawei Mate X’s design, while the phone includes two SIM card slots, and weighs 295 grams.
