The Huawei P30 Pro is the most powerful smartphone Huawei had ever announced, and that phone’s durability test has made an appearance on JerryRigEverything’s YouTube channel. This YouTube channel is well-known for testing various popular smartphones, amongst other things, and if you’re interested to see how well is the P30 Pro built, well, read on or simply take a look at the video embedded down below.
As per usual for this channel, the durability test starts with a scratch test. As is the case with all modern flagships, pretty much, Huawei is using tempered glass on top of the P30 Pro display, as scratches are visible when a level six pick comes into contact with the display. Huawei did not really state what exact display protection it is using, but we’re probably looking at Gorilla Glass 6 here.
The phone’s front-facing 32-megapixel camera is covered by the same glass as the display, while the phone does not include a regular, physical earpiece, so you don’t have to worry about the earpiece grills getting damaged, falling out or anything of the sort. The sides of this phone are made out of metal (same goes for all of its frame, really), same goes for its physical keys. The phone’s back side is also scratch-resistant, it seemingly has the same protection as the display, same actually goes for the camera protection on the back.
The phone’s display lasted about 22 seconds while being exposed to open flame, after which its pixels started to go white and never recovered. This is not your regular day-to-day situation or anything of the sort, so it’s nothing to worry about, it’s more or less a test for fun, nothing else, as your phone will not get exposed to direct flame for 22 seconds, and if it does, it’s safe to say that you’ll need to get a new one no matter what phone you have. The display stopped responding to touch after being exposed to flame for that long, but it recovered soon after.
The phone’s in-display fingerprint scanner managed to do scan a fingerprint even when the display above it got scratched, severely, so that’s a good thing. Now, the last test that was performed in this video is the bend test, where some phones tend to fail miserably. Well, you’ll be glad to know that the P30 Pro did really well in this test, it barely flexed at all. The P20 Pro, in comparison, did not handle this test well, as it broke during it.
That is pretty much all there is to say about this durability test, the P30 Pro is well-built phone it seems, and there are no serious drawbacks to mention here, at least not ones that can be seen in the provided video.
The Huawei P30 Pro was announced alongside the P30 last month, and it is made out of metal and glass, as you can see in the provided video, while its display is curved, which does make some phones more prone to breakage, but it seems like Huawei did a good job here. The Huawei P30 Pro also comes with a periscope-style camera on the back, which enables those crazy zoom capabilities, and the rest of its cameras are really capable as well.
This phone is fueled by the Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor, while it ships with a 6.47-inch fullHD+ OLED display. The phone is IP68 certified, and it ships with Android 9 Pie and Huawei’s EMUI 9.1 on top of it. The device also includes a 4,200mAh battery which supports 40W wired charging, and also fast wireless charging, not to mention reverse wireless charging.
