The Nokia 8.1 Plus is expected to arrive in the near future, and a designer has just envisioned this smartphone’s design. Waqar Khan is the designer behind the device, and his creation has been published via YouTube. The provided video has a duration of over three minutes, and is embedded down below.
It is safe to say that this design is somewhat close to the real design of the Nokia 8.1 Plus, as the Nokia 8.1 Plus is expected to look like the Nokia X71 which got announced earlier this month, and this concept device looks extremely similar to the Nokia X71.
Having said that, the Nokia 8.1 Plus that is shown in this video is made out of metal and glass, and it actually looks quite sleek. The phone includes mostly flat back, though edges of its back are curved, that goes for edges on all sides, actually. Its frame is made out of metal, and it protrudes on all sides, which actually means the phone should be easier to grip than some other modern devices, at least a little bit.
This handset features three cameras on its back, just like the Nokia X71. Those three cameras are vertically aligned, and in-between the second and third camera sits Zeiss’ branding. An LED flash is placed below those three cameras, and the phone’s rear camera setup does protrude a bit. Nokia’s branding can also be found on the back of this smartphone, and it is also vertically-aligned.
All the physical keys are placed on the right-hand side of this handset, and we’re looking at the volume up, volume down, and power / lock buttons. This concept Nokia 8.1 Plus features extremely thin bezels. The phone does come with a thin “chin” below the display, and a display camera hole in the top-left corner of its display, but other than that, its bezels are basically non-existent. The phone’s earpiece is practically built into the frame above the display, as you can see.
A 3.5mm headphone jack is part of this package, as it sits on the top of the device, while the phone’s loudspeaker and 3.5mm headphone jack are located on the bottom. The designer envisioned several color variants for this phone, Black, Red, and Blue, all of which are shown in the provided video.
You will notice that a fingerprint scanner is not visible anywhere on this phone’s body, that’s because it sits below the display, which is a change compared to the Nokia X71, as it sits on the back of that phone. In fact, chances are that the Nokia 8.1 Plus will include a regular, capacitive fingerprint scanner that will sit on the back of the device, and not under its display, but we’ll see.
The source did not really share any specifications for this smartphone, but you can expect the Nokia 8.1 Plus to feature a 6.22-inch fullHD+ display, 4GB / 6GB of RAM, and ship with the Snapdragon 660 or 710 64-bit octa-core processor. The Nokia X71 includes the Snapdragon 660, though it would be nice of HMD Global to up its game with the Nokia 8.1 Plus, and include a more powerful mid-range offering from Qualcomm in the phone. The device will also include stock Android 9 Pie, 48 and 8-megapixel rear-facing cameras, and support quick charging as well.
