According to Ishan Agarwal, a well-known tipster, the OnePlus 7 series will be announced on May 14. Mr. Agarwal reported recently that OnePlus is planning this launch event in the second week of May, and now he shared the exact date of the event, and seems pretty confident that the info is accurate.
The same source shared OnePlus 7’s model numbers last week, claiming that three OnePlus 7 handsets are coming our way, the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. In addition to that, Mr. Agarwal also reported that “Go Beyond Speed” will be the company’s tagline for OnePlus 7’s launch.
We do not know where will this event take place, but it has been reported that the company will once again sell tickets for the launch event, as it did last year. OnePlus is expected to share more info regarding all that really soon, presuming that the event will take place on May 14 as it was reported.
The very same source shared the OnePlus 7 Pro real-life images last week, along with the phone’s specifications. If that info is to be believed, the OnePlus 7 Pro will sport extremely thin bezels, its “chin” will be slightly thicker than the rest of its bezels, while a pop-up camera will be a part of the design.
The device will also include a curved display, similar to Samsung’s flagship offerings, while an alert slider will make a comeback, and once again be located above the power / lock key. The phone will include rounded corners, and an OLED display will once again be a part of the package.
Speaking of which, the OnePlus 7 Pro is said to sport a 6.67-inch Super Optic AMOLED display, as per the leaked image, and the variant that surfaced comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, though we’re sure a number of different variants will be available. That handset is also said to include 48, 16, and 8-megapixel cameras on the back, and those three cameras will be vertically aligned, while its front-facing unit will be hidden away until called upon in the camera application.
The model number of the variant that leaked is GM1915, while Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on that smartphone. That handset will be fueled by the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor, and that probably goes for all OnePlus 7 variants that the company ends up releasing next month.
The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G will probably be completely identical to the OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of the design and specs, with one difference, it will include Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 modem which will enable the phone to utilize 5G. That variant of the phone will probably be considerably more expensive than the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.
The regular OnePlus 7 model is expected to be smaller than the OnePlus 7 Pro, while it may also ship with a flat display, we’ll see. The phone’s display is expected to be smaller, though the device will probably just as powerful as the OnePlus 7 Pro, at least that’s expected at this point, all the details are not in yet. It is actually even possible that the OnePlus 7 may be identical to the OnePlus 7 Pro but ship with less RAM, who knows.
