According to OnLeaks, the tipster that leaked both the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro recently, both of those phones will feature a 48-megapixel main camera. The source also reconfirmed that the two phones will become official on May 14, as Ishan Agarwal reported a couple of days ago.
The source also reported, once again, that OnePlus plans to release three devices this time around, the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. The latter two phones will be identical, with one difference, the Snapdragon X50 model that will enable 5G connectivity for the 5G model.
The OnePlus 7 will include a 6.4-inch fullHD+ flat display, not a 6.2-inch one as Pricebaba reported yesterday, as it seems like there was a typo in that article. That essentially means that the OnePlus 7 will be identical in terms of size to the OnePlus 6T (not counting the thickness), and the only difference in terms of the design will be in an LED flash positioning.
The phone will include two cameras on the back, an in-display fingerprint scanner. We do know that the main one will be a 48-megapixel unit, but the second one was not mentioned by the source.
The OnePlus 7 Pro, on the other hand, will include a 48-megapixel camera on the back, in addition to a telephoto unit, and a camera with an ultra-wide lens. The OnePlus 7 Pro will include a larger 6.64-inch display, and that panel will be curved. We’re probably looking at a fullHD+ display once again.
The OnePlus 7 Pro will not sport a notch, instead, the company will include a pop-up camera here. The phone’s rear cameras will be vertically-aligned, same as the ones on the OnePlus 7, though this handset will include one more camera there, and an LED flash will not be a part of the camera setup, it will sit below that bump.
Both devices will be fueled by the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor, and the same can be said for the 5G variant as well, of course. The base OnePlus 7 model is expected to sport 6GB of RAM, though the company is expected to offer several variants of the device, so 8GB and possibly even 10GB variants may become available.
Android 9 Pie will come pre-installed on all OnePlus 7 units, along with OnePlus’ OxygenOS Android overlay. It was reported yesterday that the OnePlus 7 will measure 157.7 x 74.8 x 8.1mm, which is quite close to the OnePlus 6T, not identical but quite close. The OnePlus 7 Pro will measure 162.6 x 76 x 8.8mm, if the leaked info is to be believed. So the OnePlus 7 Pro will be taller, wider, and thicker than the OnePlus 7.
If all the provided info is accurate, then OnePlus’ decision is quite odd, Recycling the OnePlus 6T’s design for the OnePlus 7, and releasing two phones that will be quite close in terms of size seems quite odd. Both of these phones will be quite large, and they don’t exactly cater to consumers who wanted a smaller flagship, which is not something you expect when a company is releasing two flagships, as Samsung, Apple, and Huawei all released flagships that are considerably smaller than their larger counterparts. The OnePlus 7 series is expected to arrive next month, so we’ll see what we’re dealing with, and how accurate is this info.
