Case maker Olixar recently revealed several case designs for the Samsung Galaxy A80, one of the newest mid-range smartphone offerings from Samsung Electronics. At this point, online retailer Mobile Fun lists two case designs from Olixar explicitly designed for the Galaxy A80, and these accessories are currently available for pre-order by interested consumers.
One of the biggest challenges for designing protective cases for the Galaxy A80 is related to the camera setup of the handset. The smartphone employs a sliding and rotating mechanism that lifts and flips the cameras when the user wants to capture selfies. As a solution to this concern, Olixar developed cases which cover only the stationary portions of the rear panel. The accessories do not conceal the top edge of the back panel, which is the part that slides up to move the cameras.
The first case design from Olixar for the Galaxy A80 is the Slim Genuine Leather Wallet case, and this accessory is available in two color options, namely black and tan. Aside from including a cutout for the sliding cameras, the case also features an adhesive back, which the housing uses to attach itself to the handset. Meanwhile, a leather flip cover protects the display of the smartphone from scratches, and the case also contains slots where the user could place their credit cards or train tickets.
Olixar’s leather case ships with a price tag of £16.99 (around $22), although Mobile Fun is currently offering the housing for a lower cost of £12.99 as a promotional offer, which translates to around $17 at the current exchange rate.
Another case design from Olixar that Mobile Fun currently offers is the FlexiShield Gel Case, which the manufacturer claims is custom-molded for the Galaxy A80. Olixar claims that it made the housing from a gel material that offers both flexibility and durability, and the case itself comes with a non-slip coating, which prevents the handset from both slipping on smooth surfaces and falling off people’s hands.
Unlike the leather case which uses a flip cover to protect the display, the FlexiShield Gel Case features an additional thin housing section at the top portion of the front of the handset. Surrounding the entire panel are raised bezels that prevent the screen from coming in contact with flat surfaces. The FlexiShield Gel Case for the Galaxy A80 comes in three color options, namely Black, Blue, and Clear, and the accessory will cost the user £4.99 (around $7).
While there are limited options available for protective cases for the Galaxy A80, users should expect that similar accessories may come up soon as the handset starts shipping to customers. The Galaxy A80 features the Snapdragon 730 processor, one of the newest mid-range chipsets from Qualcomm, and it sports 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal flash storage, and a 6.7-inch display with a resolution of 2,400 by 1,080 pixels. The handset comes with three sensors, with the main camera sporting a 48-megapixel main sensor. On the other hand, the ultra-wide-angle camera has a field of view of 123-degrees and ships with an 8-megapixel imaging module. The device also features a 3D Depth sensor.
