ASUS Celebrates 30 Years With Beastly New ZenFone 6 Variant

ASUS had introduced its ZenFone 6 flagship earlier this month, and now the company actually decided to release a special edition of the phone, for a special occasion. With the announcement of the ASUS ZenFone 6 Edition 30, the company is essentially celebrating 30 years of existence.

This handset has been announced in Taipei, as part of Computex 2019, and it is more powerful than the regular ZenFone 6 variant, obviously. The regular ZenFone 6 comes in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, the 6GB RAM variant is available with 64GB of storage, while the 8GB RAM model comes in 128GB and 256GB storage flavors.

Well, this special edition phone packs in a whopping 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, that is the only variant that is available. The design of this phone is almost identical to the regular model, but the looks of the phone’s backplate are different than on the original unit.

The back side of this device features iconic Zen-inspired concentric-circle patterning in Matte Black, and all of that is covered by ergonomic 3D-curved glass. On top of that, you will also find an “Edition 30” logo on the back.

The rest of the device’s specs and design is the same as on the regular model. That means that you’re getting a phone that is made out of metal and glass, which has not notch and no display hole. ASUS actually opted to include flip-up cameras on this smartphone, two cameras which are on the back by default, but they flip up to become front-facing cameras when needed.

The phone has a high screen-to-body ratio, and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor, one of the most powerful mobile processors in the market. A regular, capacitive fingerprint scanner can be found on the back of the device, while the phone does include a thin “chin” below the display.

This smartphone features a 6.46-inch fullHD+ IPS LCD display, and that display is HDR10 certified. The ASUS ZenFone 6 Edition 30 utilizes a 48-megapixel camera on the back, as its main sensor, and this is the same sensor that both HONOR and OnePlus included in its flagships.

The secondary camera on the back comes with an ultrawide lens, and we’re looking at a 13-megapixel sensor. The company included a dual-LED flash on the back of this phone, and the device actually includes both stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

A 5,000mAh battery is also a part of the package here, while the phone supports 18W fast charging. Interestingly enough, you’re also getting 10W reverse charging with this smartphone, just in case you need to charge up some additional devices. Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the device, along with ASUS’ ZenUI 6, which is much different than the previous version. ASUS opted to de-bloat its skin, and it’s now really close to stock Android, and the company has been praised for that.

The company still did not announce the price tag for this phone, but ASUS did say that it will manufacture only 3,000 units of this phone, as it’s a limited edition handset. More information about pricing and availability will follow soon.
