ZenFone 6 Coming To The US In July, ASUS' Contest Suggests

The ZenFone 6 is ASUS’ shiny new flagship smartphone, and according to new info, it may be on its way to the US soon. Consumers in Europe and some other markets can already purchase the ZenFone 6, while those in the US will get a chance to do so in July, it seems.

ASUS is now allowing both the US and Canadian consumer to enter a giveaway for a chance to win the ZenFone 6, and that listing more or less hints at the phone’s release date. If you follow this link, you will be forwarded to ASUS’ official website for the US, and will notice the promotion itself.

Now, if you’re not from the US (excluding Rhode Island) or Canada (excluding Quebec), you will not be able to enter, of course, just a note, as some info is missing for those of you from other regions.

This listing says that there are still 48 days left for you to enter (at the time of writing this article), which means that you can enter until July 15. The winner will be selected via a random draw on July 19. These dates themselves hint that the phone will go on sale in the US in July, probably right about when the giveaway is set to end.

ASUS had introduced the ZenFone 6 earlier this month, and managed to surprise quite a few people by the phone’s design, and its software. The ZenFone 6 barely has any bezel on it, and it sports two cameras which act as both the phone’s rear-facing and front-facing units. These are flip-up cameras which are placed on the back, but when you switch to the selfie camera in the app, they will flip out and become front-facing units.

The ZenFone 6 comes with ZenUI 6 overlay, on top of Android 9 Pie, and surprisingly enough, that version of the software is much closer to stock Android than its predecessors. ASUS’ Android software was very bloated in the past, and it seems like the company took some serious measures to make sure that’s not the case anymore.

The phone includes a regular capacitive fingerprint scanner on the back, while it features a 6.4-inch fullHD+ LCD display. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 855, and it comes in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. It is worth noting that a special edition 12GB RAM model got announced earlier today in Taipei, though ASUS will manufacture only 3,000 of those units.

48 and 13-megapixel cameras are included on the back of this phone, a 48-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX586 sensor), and a 13-megapixel ultrawide unit. Stereo speakers are also a part of the ZenFone 6 package, as is a 3.5mm headphone jack.

This phone ships with a 5,000mAh battery, which supports 18W fast charging, and also 10W reverse charging. The phone includes two SIM card slots, though it remains to be seen if the US variant will also come with such an option. The phone’s pricing will probably start at the same level as it does in Europe, for the most part, it will be a bit more affordable due to conversion. We’re expecting its pricing to start at $499, but we’ll see what will happen, and what variants is ASUS planning to offer in the US.
