The picture of a battery that comes from the Korea Testing and Research Institute recently caught the eyes of the folks over Galaxy Club and looking at the model code on the battery, it appears to belong to one of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note10 variants. The battery has also received a go-ahead from the South Korean Certification Authority.
As a refresher, Samsung is tipped to launch two variants of the Note10 – a standard model with a 6.3-inch display, and a bigger version, which would presumably be called the Note10 Pro, with a 6.7-inch screen. Both phones will apparently be available in 5G configurations as well, which means that in all, Samsung may release four Galaxy Note10 models.
Coming back to the recently posted image, the said battery bears the model number EB-BN972ABU and has a minimum capacity of 4,170mAh and a typical capacity of 4,300mAh. The typical capacity is what vendors usually advertise. The model number is kind of confusing, as although it confirms that the battery is intended for a Galaxy Note 10 device, it indicates that the cell belongs to the Galaxy Note10 variant with the model number SM-N972.
So far, this model hasn’t popped up anywhere. The regular Galaxy Note10 will reportedly have the model number SM-N970, while it’s 5G version is expected to carry the product number SM-N971. The Galaxy Note10 Pro will apparently have the number SM-N975, and its 5G variant will be the SM-N976.
So, while there is a possibility that the model number SM-N972 belongs to a variant that hasn’t been heard of yet, the general consensus right now is that the recently spotted battery belongs to the SM-N971, which is the 5G-ready Galaxy Note10.
Given that the Galaxy Note9 packs in a 4,000mAh battery, so a 4,300mAh battery will be an upgrade. The Galaxy Note series phones are usually marketed as productivity oriented devices and since 5G handsets are expected to be battery-intensive, a bigger capacity battery will certainly come in handy. Per previous reports, the bigger Galaxy Note10 Pro will come with a 4,500mAh battery.
The Galaxy Note10 series is expected to feature the Infinity-O display, which means the front camera will be housed in a punch-hole. The phone will either be underpinned by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset or Samsung’s Exynos 9820 chipset, depending on the market. The device is tipped to come with at least 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory and the maxed out-variant might have 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
The Galaxy Note10 is tipped to come with a quad-camera setup. While two of the sensors will reportedly be inherited from the Galaxy Note9, there might also be a 16MP super-wide-angle angle camera and a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor.
On the front, Samsung might add two cameras. It’s almost a given that the phone will run Android 9 Pie and Samsung’s One UI. And of course, the S Pen stylus will also be there. The Galaxy Note10 will apparently be available in five colors at launch, including Black, White, Red, Silver, and Pink. Of course, the South Korean giant will come up with fancier names for these variants.
