OnePlus has started rolling out new Open Beta updates to four of its newest devices, the OnePlus 5, 5T, 6, and 6T. The OnePlus 5 and 5T are getting Open Beta 31 and 29 updates, respectively, while the OnePlus 6 and 6T are receiving Open Beta 17 and 9 updates.
It is worth noting that the changelog for all of this devices is identical, though there is one extra entry for the OnePlus 6 and 6T, and that entry is aimed only for Indian consumers. This update will arrive OTA (Over-The-Air) to all of you who are running OnePlus’ beta software on either of the four devices, and it should arrive soon, if it hasn’t already.
The changelog has been separated into three parts for the OnePlus 5 and 5T, and four parts for the OnePlus 6 and 6T. That fourth part is the “File Manager” section, and the only change listed is for Indian OnePlus 6 and 6T units. OnePlus has opted to add the “Intelligent cleanup feature”. That is also the only difference between changelogs, so, for global consumers, these changelogs are completely identical across all four devices.
As far as the “System” section is concerned, OnePlus says that it added a warning message when the device is overheating, just in case. The company has also included a new UI for system updates, we still do not know how will it look like, but based on this entry. It’s noticeably different than before.
OnePlus has also brought some changes for the “Quick reply in landscape” feature on all these devices. More apps now support this feature, and apps don’t get paused when you’re using quick reply in landscape mode. For those of you who do not know, this feature is exactly what it sounds like, it allows you to quickly reply to messages from the notification shade while your phone is in landscape mode.
The last section that OnePlus brought updates to is “Community”, in other words, its Community application. OnePlus has added a search field to the application, and you can now group search results in different categories, which is quite useful. UI of the social page has been improved as well, and the company has optimized “Log recording” in Bug Report section as well.
That is pretty much it. These are definitely not mind-blowing changes, but they sure are welcomed, especially for those of you who use the company’s Community application, and who tend to use the Quick Reply feature while the phone is in landscape mode. Much like previous Open Beta changes, these ones are expected to make way to the stable version in the near future. OnePlus did release a new stable update for all four of these devices quite recently, though, so it may be a while before these features make their way to all four devices, we’ll see.
The company is currently quite busy with event organization and getting everything ready for the OnePlus 7 series launch. If rumors are to be believed, this will be the first time that OnePlus will announce three smartphones at the same time. The OnePlus 7 series is coming on May 14, and the company is expected to introduce the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.
