Some OnePlus 7 Pro Units Suffering From "Ghost Touch" Issues

The OnePlus 7 Pro is not without its issues, it seems, as some users have been experiencing “ghost touches” on the display. Users on the company’s official forums, and Reddit have been reporting such issues, and it seems like one of Android Central’s editors is having issues with its unit as well.

These ghost touches seem to be random and intermittent, and it usually renders the top left or top right of the display unresponsive to touch until you turn the screen off and on. Some devices are having serious problems with ghost touches, while in other cases annoyances are minor, and this does not seem to affect all units, at all.

Some reports actually suggested that firing up CPU-Z app is a great way to see if your phone is suffering from ghost touches. This app actually triggers ghost touches much more frequently for some reason, so this seems to be a software issue. You can see CPU-Z and ghost touches in action in the video provided down below.

Android Central’s editor had issues with ghost touches a couple of times in a span of four days. The first time in WhatsApp for about five seconds, while the second time it lasted about two minutes and was affecting pretty much every app he entered… which, needless to say, rendered the phone unusable at that time.

OnePlus still did not respond to such reports, at least not at the time of writing this article, but the company is expected to provide some insight in the near future. Let’s hope that this is just a software issue, and not a hardware-related problem.

The OnePlus 7 Pro got announced quite recently, alongside the OnePlus 7. The “Pro” variant of OnePlus’ flagship ships with a gorgeous 6.67-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED display, which is not only curved and HDR10+ certified, but it also comes with a 90Hz refresh rate. That display is one of the phone’s main selling points, and such issues are not something OnePlus needs right now.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is made out of metal and glass, and it comes with an extremely high screen-to-body ratio, as it does not include a display camera notch or hole, but instead, it ships with a pop-up selfie camera.

The phone includes three cameras on the back, which are also awaiting an update, as users are not exactly pleased with low light performance at the moment. OnePlus did promise that an update is coming next week, though, so hopefully, that will bring those cameras up to standard, as the hardware is there.

Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the OnePlus 7 Pro, along with OxygenOS 9.5. The device also includes a large 4,000mAh battery, which is backed by OnePlus’ proprietary 30W Warp Charge fast charging. The device does not support wireless charging though, nor does it ship with a 3.5mm headphone jack. OnePlus did opt to include a set of stereo speakers in the device this time around, though. It is also worth saying that the phone does not offer an official IP rating for water and dust resistance, but it is water resistant to a degree, says OnePlus.
