OnePlus has started rolling out a new update for the OnePlus 7 Pro. This time around, the company is rolling out OxygenOS 9.5.8 to its flagship, following several updates that arrive before it.
The OnePlus 7 Pro hasn’t really been available for that long, and quite a few updates arrived for it already. In previous updates, the company improved the phone’s camera quite a bit, while it also fixed ghost touch issues that some people have experienced.
This time around, OnePlus focused on three areas, according to the update’s changelog. Those areas include System, Phone, and Camera aspects of the device. This update optimizes touchscreen sensitivity on the OnePlus 7 Pro, while it also optimizes compatibility for third-party Type-C accessories.
On top of that, it brings a new security patch to the device, Android security patch for May 2019. General bug fixes and improvements are also listed in the company’s changelog, and that is pretty much it for the “System” aspect of this update.
OnePlus also improved audio quality for phone calls with this update, and one specific pop-up camera issue has been fixed as well. Some OnePlus 7 Pro units had issues opening up the pop-up camera for an incoming video call when the screen is off and the device is locked, well, this update should amend that.
That is all there is to say here, as OnePlus did not list anything else in the changelog. This update is rolling out over-the-air (OTA) as we speak, though it is a staged rollout, as per usual. A small number of users will get the update at first, and in several days, a wider rollout will commence. So, it may take a few days or a week for some of you to get the update, so be patient, your device will let you know once it’s ready.
The OnePlus 7 Pro had been available for purchase for a while now, since the end of May. When it launched, it was well-optimized and everything, but its cameras did not perform as well, while it had some other issues that the company fixed via software updates.
The OnePlus 7 Pro was announced alongside the OnePlus 7, and it is the most expensive smartphone the company ever released. The device is made out of metal and glass, and it does not include a display notch nor a display hole. The company opted for a pop-up camera here, in order to avoid including any distractions on the display itself.
The device includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, UFS 3.0 storage, and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor. It sports one extra camera compared to the OnePlus 7, and its display is curved.
This is the first smartphone from the company to include a QHD+ display, and we’re looking at a Fluid AMOLED panel here, with a 90Hz refresh rate. It remains to be seen what other changes will these software updates will bring in the near future, but you can expect more optimizations, as is usually the case when OnePlus’ phone hits the market.
