Avengers Assemble On Stadia May 15 2020

E3 has been a treasure trove of details about upcoming games and one of those was the new Marvel’s Avengers game from Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics, and Eidos Montreal. During its Square Enix Live E3 showcase on the evening of June 10 the company showed the very first footage of the game and revealed that it will be coming to Stadia on May 15 of 2020.

This won’t be a Stadia exclusive, of course, and will also be releasing on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on the same day.

There are still plenty of details that are yet to be revealed about Marvel’s Avengers but there are some pieces of information that Square Enix has already shared. When the the game was first teased it was said that it would be a game that continues to evolve and allows players to play in the game world for years to come.

During last night’s reveal it was also mentioned that players would be experiencing an all new story in the Avengers universe which means players shouldn’t be expecting anything that has to do with the story in the Avengers films that are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With that said, the trailer that was shown during the Square Enix press conference also revealed that the characters in the game would not be modeled after the actors who play them in the films, and would also be voiced by different people, with Troy Baker playing Bruce Banner, Nolan North Playing Tony Stark, Laura Bailey playing Black Widow, Jeff Schine playing Captain America, and Travis Willingham playing the role of Thor.

Both North and Baker are extremely well-known voice actors and have portrayed roles in numerous games over the years, helping this to be an all-star cast of sorts. The interesting thing is that it looks like the game won’t have Captain America in it for very long judging by the in-engine footage from the trailer, which suggests that Cap is killed off in events that appear to be towards the beginning of the game.

With Marvel’s Avengers getting an official confirmation of a Stadia release this is so far the second major game coming from a big publisher that has been announced for the platform during E3, with Watchdogs: Legion being the other title. Both Square Enix and Ubisoft are also big partners for Stadia so gamers are definitely going to see more from these two companies going forward.

So far Ubisoft seems to be the most involved. It has the most games that will be available on Stadia at launch in November and the most of any of the confirmed publishers for the foreseeable future if you include Watchdogs: Legion, though other publishers could announce additional games before that game releases.

It’s also bringing its Uplay+ subscription service to the platform next year which will likely be an additional $14.99 on top of Stadia Pro’s $9.99 per month. With Marvel’s Avengers coming to Stadia next year, this makes five total games for Square Enix, joining Final Fantasy XV, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Rise of The Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider as the others that have been announced so far.
