The LG Stylo 5 and Motorola Moto G7 Play have arrived on T-Mobile’s prepaid wireless carrier Metro by T-Mobile and the best part is that they can be yours without paying a dime. Of course, there are strings attached, but it’s worth it if you have been looking to ditch your carrier and upgrade to a new low-priced handset.
So, here is the deal: if you fancy one of these smartphones and want to have it for free, all you have to do is leave behind your current carrier, port your number to Metro, and activate a new line of service. Switching from T-Mobile doesn’t count, just by the way.
Metro by T-Mobile’s LG Stylo 5 is priced at $239.99 and the Motorola Moto G7 Play costs $179.99, which means the savings here are significant. If you are already on Metro, the LG Stylo 5 can be had for $179.99 when you sign up for a new line or upgrade, which means you get to save 60 bucks.
Released in June, the LG Stylo 5 is now slowly making its way to the U.S. with the help of different carriers. The phone sports a 6.2 inches LCD display and has a 5 megapixels selfie camera and single 13 megapixels unit on the back.
It is underpinned by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset and flanked by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. The internal memory can be expanded via a microSD card. It may also interest you that this affordable phone comes with a built-in stylus. The handset features a 3500mAh battery and it runs Android 9 Pie out of the box. In addition to a fingerprint sensor, the phone also offers face recognition technology.
Coming to the Moto g7 Play, the phone has a 5.7-inch display. Like the Stylo 5, it also has modest camera specifications, offering an 8 megapixels selfie snapper and a 13 megapixels rear camera. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 632 SoC and has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal memory. It also comes with Android Pie and packs in a 3000mAh cell. For user authentication, there is a fingerprint reader at the back.
Granted, these are not chart-topping specifications, but these are entry-level smartphones, after all, so you cannot expect top-notch hardware. And for a price of $0, both the phones are steals.
