While the Motorola One Action has not yet been announced, we have seen a number of leaks and rumors surrounding the device, come out already.
Now, the device has shown up in the Google Play Developers’ Console, and it also shows the specs for this device. Which means we can now confirm a few things like the processor and display.
The One Action will sport a 6.3-inch 21:9 aspect ratio display, with a full HD+ resolution – that comes out to 2520×1080. That means that Motorola would be joining Sony in the 21:9 trend, that it tried to start with the Xperia 10 and Xperia 1 earlier this year.
Inside, the One Action is going to sport the Exynos 9609. That is basically an underclocked version of the Exynos 9610 that is running in the Galaxy A50. It’s definitely a mid-range processor, but it should work pretty well in the One Action. We also know that there will be 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage inside. So if you were expecting a premium mid-range smartphone, that’s not happening. Not with only 4GB of RAM.
A few other tidbits are confirmed as well. Like the inclusion of NFC. Which is actually a bit of a surprise, considering a lot of these very cheap smartphones will omit NFC to save some cash – and because a lot of people don’t use it. The One Action will also run Android 9 Pie, and it is an Android One device. That’s no surprise, though, considering the fact that the One lineup from Motorola has all been Android One smartphones.
The One Action does have a render on the Google Play Developers’ Console, though it’s unclear if this is the actual render or not, as it is one we have seen in recent leaks. But it does show a hole-punch display, with the camera in the left-corner. Similar to the placement on many Huawei and HONOR smartphones that have launched in the past few months, like the HONOR 20 Pro.
The Motorola One Action is looking like it could be a replacement to something like the Moto E, which hasn’t been upgraded in over a year. It’s more of a lower-end mid-range smartphone, but not quite a low-end device. It is also supposed to be pretty good with battery life, sporting a 3500mAh capacity battery, and also good with the camera. It has a 117-degree field-of-view camera on the back. Which is going to provide some really great wide-angle pictures.
Currently, there’s no word on when Motorola might actually announce the One Action. However, since it is showing up in the Google Play Developers’ Console, it shouldn’t be long until it is actually available for everyone to purchase. It should be a pretty decent phone and with Android One support, it might get updates a bit faster – though it’s running a less-common Exynos chipset, so updates could still be a bit slow. It’ll depend on how fast Samsung is with getting the binaries out for the chipset for Motorola to update the One Action.
