Football Manager 2020 is coming to Stadia, according to the official Stadia Twitter page.
While this is exciting all on its own for fans of the series, the Stadia version also gets an exclusive feature.
The game series director Miles Jacobson says this feature will be related to the technology of the platform. Specifically Stadia will be capable of processing more matches side by side.
The Cloud & Google’s Data Centers Are The Key
Of course, Stadia being in the cloud and Google having massive data centers to power the platform make this all possible.
The feature will be utilizing spare bandwidth across the whole system. So, players can expect to be able to play more matches as an end result.
To put it another way, faster match processing means being able to load more leagues. If you’re familiar with the game, then you know this is likely to be a powerful feature for the play experience.
The game launches in November
In addition to mentioning the unique feature that only the Stadia version will have, Jacobson also mentions the launch window.
It’ll be coming sometime in November but he doesn’t say when exactly as they haven’t set an actual date.
A November launch does put it within the time frame to launch alongside Stadia though.
Stadia Is Likely The Reason No Launch Date Is Mentioned
When you think about it, Stadia itself is probably the reason that an exact date for the game’s launch is not confirmed.
Google has yet to announce an exact date in November for the launch of the service. A confirmed date for Football Manager 2020 in the same month could indirectly confirm when Stadia is due to release. Google probably doesn’t want that happening.
That said, the game is suspected to release between November 1 and November 8 on other platforms. This may be the time people can expect it to show up on Stadia as well if those dates are accurate.
Like many of the games on the platform, Football Manager 2020 will be optimized for playing with the Stadia controller.
That being said, Jacobs does mention that it will also support playing with a mouse and keyboard if you’re playing games on a device that support it. Like in Chrome on a PC for example.
