Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Fan Festival To Have "Special Assignments"

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is fast-approaching its two-day fan festival that is set to take place on August 31. The festival happens in Indianapolis at White River State Park, and Niantic has just shared more details about the event. Specifically, the event will play host to special assignments that will be given to attendees. The event is also where players will first encounter the dragons that are being added to the game.

Niantic announced the fan festival back at the end of June but at the time it didn’t share a whole lot of information. Mostly just the dates and a couple of key details. Today, the company is showing off two more of the dragons that players will encounter around the local area. These include the Chinese Fireball and the Peruvian Vipertooth, alongside the Common Welsh Green, and Antipodean Opaleye announced on July 24.

As noted by Niantic last month, all of the dragons will be out in the wild at the fan festival. After the event is over though, they will be restricted to specific regions. This means players will need be at the fan festival if they want the best chance at capturing these dragons.

In addition to the dragons there will be a series of special assignments that players need to complete. These will pop up throughout the day but only at specific times. There’s no word on what these assignments will be, just that there will be a “Threat Clock” players will need to watch. When this Threat Clock reaches a state of emergency, the assignments will appear.

All of this activity is sure to be a little bit draining, and not just for your body’s energy, but your phone’s too. To help with this, there will be lounges set up where players will be able to rest. They can sit down, take a load off, and plug their phones in. The best part is that these lunges will be themed with all sorts of Harry Potter stuff. Tents will be erected that house chairs and tables that look like they were plucked straight from the films. There will even be flags on top of the tens with the 9 3/4 seal on them.

These lounges are about more than just relaxing though. Players will be given a chance to win prizes at these lounges by testing their knowledge of spells and various ingredients. If you’re planning on attending and want to win whatever’s being given away, you’ll want to brush up on your knowledge of the game.

In addition to these prizes, there will be exclusive offers from AT&T and Simon on site that players can access. This includes special discounts, and some free stuff like in-game items. There will also be a drawing for a $10,000 shopping sweepstakes but Niantic doesn’t mention any more details about that specifically.

If you plan to attend the fan festival there will be a cost associated with entry. There are two options to choose from, which includes general admission at $30 or $40 for early access. Both options will be available both days, but you will only be able to buy tickets for one of them. This means you’ll have to choose which day to attend and stick with it.
