Huawei’s most powerful smartphones have started receiving a new feature, night mode for their selfie cameras. We’re talking about the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro here, and the update is currently rolling out to Chinese users.
This update comes under version 9.1.0.193, and it is expected to reach other areas of the world in the coming weeks. Huawei did not release a specific date, though, so you’ll have to sit tight and wait.
Once you have this update installed, you’ll see the Night mode option when you switch to the selfie camera. This night mode actually works similar to the standard night mode on the two devices, the one for rear-facing cameras. It will take a bunch of images and stack them together, though you will need to keep your hand as steady as possible. Taking these pictures takes longer than taking regular ones, of course.
This is the main change in the v9.1.0.193 update, the only feature, but not the only entry in the changelog. Huawei also listed an update in security, as this update brings Android security patch for August 2019 as well.
As per usual, this update is rolling out OTA (Over-the-Air), so your device will notify you once it’s available. For unlocked global models, it should become available in the coming weeks, but you will have to be patient.

The Huawei P30 Pro actually offers crazy camera zoom capabilities, as the company included a periscope camera on the inside. The company’s night mode is also considered to be amongst the best in the game.
Huawei is planning to introduce new flagship smartphones in the coming months, the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. Those two phones are rumored to arrive in either September or October. Contrary to some rumors, both phones will ship with Android Q aka Android 10, not Huawei’s HarmonyOS.
On top of Android Q, Huawei will install a brand new version of its Android skin, Emotion UI (EMUI) 10. EMUI 10 was introduced quite recently, and it brings quite a few new features, including a system-wide dark mode.
The Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will include Leica’s lenses, and probably an improved version of the periscope camera system. Some leaks suggested that we’ll also get extremely curved displays here, at least on the Mate 30 Pro variant, but we’ll see. It is safe to assume that both phones will sport OLED panels, though. Fast charging will also be included in the package, and the same goes for fast wireless charging. Huawei’s Kirin 990 SoC will fuel both devices, though that chip hasn’t been announced yet, so we don’t have much detail about it. More rumors and leaks will follow in the coming weeks.
