UPDATE: An overview of the Vivo NEX 3 actually surfaced on YouTube in the meantime. That video appeared on Mrwhosetheboss YouTube channel, and it has been embedded below the article. He did not share any specs of the device, but the design has been fully revealed.
ORIGINAL POST: The upcoming Vivo NEX 3 flagship has surfaced in a teaser video. That video popped up on Weibo (Chinese social media network), and it more or less reveals the design of the device.
This video confirms that the NEX 3 will feature the so-called “Waterfall Display”. That display managed to create a lot of chatter in the tech world as it offers really aggressive curves.
The display wraps around the sides of the phone, and people are a bit worried. They think that the phone will be impossible to hold without accidental touches. It remains to be seen if that is true or not, but it’s easy to understand why they’re worried.
99.6% screen-to-body ratio is rumored
This video confirms that the phone will have extremely thin bezels. The device is rumored to sports a 99.6-percent screen-to-body ratio, and may as well be true. If that ends up being the case, the Vivo NEX 3 will have the highest screen-to-body ratio in the market.
The Vivo NEX 3 will not have a display hole or a display notch, according to this leak. The phone will include a pop-up camera, though. It will not be a sharkfin one, but a regular pop-up camera, which will be wider than the one on the OnePlus 7 Pro.
That pop-up camera will be centered at the top of the phone in this case. This teaser video allowed us to check out the back side of the phone as well.
It seems like the Vivo NEX 3 will include three cameras on the back, all part of a circular camera module. An LED flash will be placed right below those cameras, while a “NEX” branding will be present on the back as well.
Snapdragon 855 Plus & 5G in tow
This smartphone is rumored to include 5G connectivity, and the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. The Snapdragon 855 Plus is the latest and greatest processor from Qualcomm, a more powerful variant of the Snapdragon 855.
The Vivo NEX 3 is also said to include a 64-megapixel camera. That camera will be placed on the back of the phone, and it remains to be seen if that will be its primary camera.
That 64-megapixel unit is probably the same as the one that will be utilized on the Redmi Note 8 Pro. We’re looking at Samsung’s ISOCELL sensor here, which is aimed at mid-range smartphones.
The Vivo NEX 3 will be a flagship device, which leads us to believe that it will include a different main sensor on the back. We’ll see, though.
Chances are that Vivo plans to introduce both 4G and 5G variants of the NEX 3. Only the 5G model has leaked thus far, though. You can check out the promo video via a link in the first paragraph, and we’ve included quite a few screenshots in the gallery down below.
