OnePlus 7 Series Receiving Second Android 10-Based Beta Update

OnePlus has started rolling out Open Beta 2 update for the OnePlus 7 series. In other words, it is rolling out to the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. This update is based on Android 10, and it is the second such update to reach the company’s flagship smartphones.

The OnePlus 7 series started receiving Android 10 beta earlier this month

As a reminder, OnePlus released the very first Android 10-based Open Beta update earlier this month. The company started rolling it out the same day Google released a stable Android 10 update for Pixel phones.

That being said, this new update contains quite a few fixes that were discovered in the first one. That is the whole point of beta updates, of course. This update brings us one step closer to the stable Android 10 release for the OnePlus 7 series.

The first entry in this update’s changelog are general bug fixes and stability improvements. That’s a standard addition to pretty much every update the company releases.

Fixes and optimizations are in focus here

In addition to that, quite a few fixes and optimizations are listed. The company has fixed the crash issue with System UI caused by parallel WhatsApp app. That is something that has been discovered in Open Beta 1, as is the case with all of the issues fixed here.

The dark screen issue on the lock screen while accessing Games has also been addressed by the company. Status Bar has not been displaying UI elements for some users in Open Beta 1, well, that’s no longer the case.

Some users have been experiencing crashes with OnePlus’ default Gestures system, which is something that OnePus fixed now. The Wi-Fi icon in Quick Settings have been redesigned as well.

Fingerprint Unlock has also been a problem for some users in Open Beta 1. Some users experienced crashes while trying to unlock the device, well, that should no longer be the problem.

On top of everything, the company optimized the animation effect when Notification bar is being scrolled upwards.

That is pretty much it. Those are all the entries that the company listed. Some fixes may be pinned to the “General bug fixes and stability improvements”, though, so keep that in mind.

A stable Android 10 update is coming soon, but we don’t know when exactly

This update is rolling out to users who are currently running OxygenOS beta software. If you are running a stable build of OxygenOS, you will not get this update.

OnePlus is expected to roll out a stable build of Android 10-based OxygenOS to the OnePlus 7 series. We still do not know when will that happen, but it is expected to arrive in the coming weeks. It may even arrive before the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro land, we’ll see.
