OnePlus 7T Will Soon Get 960fps Slow-Motion Video Recording

A well-known tipster, Ishan Agarwal, said recently that 960fps slow-motion video recording will be possible with the OnePlus 7T. The phone had been announced, and yet the option is still not available. Was he wrong? Well, no, it seems like that feature will arrive via an update.

960fps slow-motion is coming to the OnePlus 7T via an update

OnePlus confirmed to XDA Developers that 960fps slow-motion recording at 720p will become available for the OnePlus 7T soon. The feature will arrive via an update. That is not the only camera-related feature that is coming to the phone, though.

The company also confirmed that the OnePlus 7T will be able to record 4K video at 30fps with its ultra wide-angle camera. It is worth noting that the OnePlus 7 Pro can already shoot videos using its wide-angle camera, but that feature landed only recently, with an Android 10 update.

Now, in terms of 960fps slow-motion videos, it is worth saying that OnePlus 7T’s sensors can store 960 frames every second. That means that the company will probably use motion interpolation, which is something a number of other OEMs have been doing.

The OnePlus 6, 6T, 7, and 7 Pro can also shoot slow-motion videos, but not at 960fps. They can shoot 480fps at 720p, or 240fps at 1080p. That is something that the OnePlus 7T is also enabled to do, while the 960fps option will come soon.

The OnePlus 7T is capable of shooting better macro shots than its predecessors, as it comes with a dedicated motor for macro photography. So, that feature will not be coming to other OnePlus devices, that were announced earlier. What may come is 960fps slow-motion recording. As far as we know, that is not enabled by any special hardware in the OnePlus 7T, so the company will probably push it to the OnePlus 7 series, and possibly even to the OnePlus 6 series.

OnePlus’ new flagship was announced yesterday

The OnePlus 7T had been announced yesterday, in both the US and India. Only the 7T model had been launched, not the OnePlus 7T Pro. That handset will probably make an appearance in London next month, during the company’s press event for Europe.

The OnePlus 7T is quite an interesting phone. It resembles the OnePlus 7 from the front, while it is considerably different on the back. It also comes with a taller display aspect ratio than its predecessor.

This device includes three cameras on the back, compared to two on the OnePlus 7. It also includes a smaller waterdrop notch on the front, which is always appreciated.

The device features a 6.55-inch fullHD+ Fluid AMOLED display. It adopts 90Hz refresh rate that we’ve seen on the OnePlus 7 Pro, which should make the phone more enjoyable to use than the OnePlus 7. Boosted display refresh rate makes the content on the display smoother to the eye.

The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 Plus 64-bit octa-core processor. The device also includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

Android 10 comes pre-installed on the device, along with OxygenOS 10. A 3,800mAh battery is included, and it supports OnePlus’ Warp Charge 30T. If you’d like to know more about the phone’s specs, click here.
