OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 earbuds can now be purchased in an additional color, following an announcement to the press from OnePlus at a hardware event hosted by the company.
The announcement arrives alongside the announcement of an updated version of the latest OnePlus smartphones. Namely, that’s the OnePlus 7T. So the new color isn’t the biggest reveal from the event. But it’s good news for users who had wanted something a bit different.
OnePlus initially launched its headphones in a standard black color. Now, users can pick up OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 in “Olive Green” too.
As with the black variant, the color across each hardware component of the headphones is relatively flat. The primary difference in tone and accents derives from differences in materials used. So the earbud itself is a shinier tint of the green olive-inspired hue while most of the rest is matte toned. For some materials, the tone shifts slightly darker but that’s not too prominent either — giving the new color an understated look similar to the black configuration.
Color is the only difference with the new Bullets Wireless 2
OnePlus didn’t go out on a limb with big changes to the new color scheme. The Olive Green Bullets Wireless 2 wearable is identical to its black counterpart.
That means that special features such as easy switching between two source devices, Bluetooth 5.0, and support for AptX HD, Quick Pair, and Google Assistant are still part of the package. It also means clearer mids and highs than the previous Bullets thanks to its Knowles armature drivers. OnePlus combined those with a GoerTek dynamic driver for three-way frequency isolation and reproduction.
For battery life, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 stand in a class almost all its own. A full charge is rated at up to fourteen hours of use. The company included fast charging too. So the charge-to-playback ratio is spectacular. OnePlus designed the arrangement to allow up to 10-hours of playback from just a 10-minute charge. Charging is accomplished via a USB Type-C port.
Available “soon”
Pricing hasn’t moved since the launch of the original OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 either. OnePlus still has that set at around $30 more than the original OnePlus Bullets. That puts the price point at $99. With consideration for the features, battery life, and audio quality, the value is yet another aspect of this listening device that would be difficult to overstate.
In terms of availability, OnePlus hasn’t provided any solid timeframes for Bullets Wireless 2 in Olive Green. The device will presumably be available for consumers to purchase anywhere the original headphones were. As to when they’ll be available, OnePlus rather vaguely says that’ll be ‘soon’.
Since the company opted to launch the new color alongside its new Snapdragon 855+ touting OnePlus 7T flagship, it’s not unlikely they will arrive on the market at the same time. But there could just as easily be some delay between the two new devices since the company isn’t ready to put a firm date on the headphones. The OnePlus 7T will be available in just a couple of weeks from October 18.
