UPDATE: The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 will not launch in 2019 after all. Edward Bishop, Xiaomi China’s brand promotion manager confirmed that through a Weibo post. He said that there won’t be a second “Mi MIX” phone launching this year.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: It seems like the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 may arrive next month, in October. At least new information that surfaced in China suggests that will happen. The phone’s pre-listing appeared on JD.com aka Jingdong Mall, in China, and it suggests the Mi MIX 4 is coming “by the end of October”.
This listing also reveals that the phone will arrive in both 4G and 5G variants. The phone’s price tag is listed as 9,999 Yuan ($1,403), but that’s just a placeholder, the device will be much more affordable.
It was expected to arrive alongside the Mi MIX Alpha
For those of you who do not know, the Mi MIX 4 was expected to arrive quite recently, on September 24. The device was expected to launch alongside the Mi MIX Alpha, Xiaomi’s brand new concept handset.
That did not happen, however. The Mi MIX Alpha did arrive, but not the Mi MIX 4. We were unsure whether the Mi MIX 4 will arrive at all, and then a tipster (Ice Universe) said that the device is on its way. He only said that it is coming soon, and it seems like it may land next month.
That is not exactly surprising, as the Mi MIX Alpha is not really a successor to the Mi MIX 3. The Mi MIX Alpha is extremely expensive, and is in low-scale production at the moment. That is definitely not a phone for the masses.
The Mi MIX 4, on the other hand, is expected to become Xiaomi’s mainstream flagship for H2 2019. This device will almost certainly make its way to both China, and a number of other global markets.
The device may include Snapdragon 855 Plus & Mi Charge Turbo
We did not see all that much info regarding the Mi MIX 4 up to this point, but we can always guess. The phone will almost certainly have extremely thin bezels. It will not be anything crazy like the Mi MIX Alpha, but a regular device with extremely thin bezels.
This phone will be made out of metal and glass or metal and ceramic, we’ll see. Both variants are possible, in fact. The device will include a large OLED display, and it could be curved, we’ll see.
Android 10 will come pre-installed on the Mi MIX 4, along with MIUI 10. The Snapdragon 855 Plus will fuel this smartphone, Qualcomm’s latest and most powerful flagship processor. The device will also include plenty of RAM, starting with either 6GB or 8GB.
You can also expect Xiaomi to include plenty of storage in this device. Xiaomi’s Mi Charge Turbo 30W fast wireless charging will also be included in the device. Fast wired charging will be a part of the picture as well, of course.
This device will be water and dust resistant, and it will probably include three or four cameras on the back. The phone may include a 108-megapixel camera on the back, Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor.
