Xiaomi has released several new teasers via Weibo (Chinese social media network). Via those teasers, the company confirms the existence of the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha. On top of that, it is also confirmed that the phone’s display will be extremely curved.
Several new products coming on September 24
Let’s take it one step at a time, shall we. Xiaomi confirmed, quite recently, that the Mi 9 Pro will arrive on September 24. In addition to that, the company promised a Mi MIX-branded flagship, and MIUI 11. The company’s new TV will also become official during that conference.
Pretty much everyone assumed that the Mi MIX device that Xiaomi is talking about will be the Mi MIX 4. Well, that is still a possibility, as both the Mi MIX 4 and Mi MIX Alpha have been rumored to arrive.
Xiaomi MI MIX Alpha & Mi 9 Pro are coming with 5G connectivity
Having said that, the Mi MIX Alpha has just been confirmed by the company. In fact, the company confirmed that both the Mi 9 Pro and Mi MIX Alpha will feature 5G connectivity. It is possible that both 4G and 5G variants will be announced, though.
You can check out Xiaomi’s teasers in the gallery below this article. The first teaser suggests that the phone will have an extremely high screen-to-body ratio, close to a 100-percent it seems. Based on this, the Mi MIX Alpha will challenge the Vivo NEX 3 in this regard.
‘Super-curved’ display in tow
The second teaser confirms the “Alpha” name. It also confirms that 5G will be a part of the package. The third teaser actually shows the side of the Mi MIX Alpha. You can clearly see that the phone’s display curves all around the corners. This display will take about 70-percent of the phone’s side, based on this image.
We don’t know what will Xiaomi refer to this display, but a tipster did share more info. Ice Universe, as well-known tipster, said that this display belongs in the “fourth stage” of curved display development.
He basically listed five different version of displays: Flat, Curved, Waterfall, Super-curved, and Surround. He says that this display belongs under the “super-curved” category, as it doesn’t wrap around the sides completely.
We still do not know what will this phone look like, though. We do know that it will have extremely thin bezels, and super-curved display in terms of the design, but that’s basically it.
Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha to utilize the Snapdragon 855 Plus & 12GB of RAM
The device will probably be made out of metal and glass or metal and ceramic. The Snapdragon 855 Plus will almost certainly fuel this smartphone, while the device will include plenty of RAM. It is expected to ship with up to 12GB of RAM.
Xiaomi will, hopefully, include UFS 3.0 flash storage in this smartphone, and plenty of it. The phone’s display will be of the AMOLED variety, that’s for sure.
Android 10 is expected to come pre-installed on the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha, with MIUI 11. The Mi 9 Pro, on the other hand, will probably look the same as the Mi 9, but will be more powerful, with the Snapdragon 855 Plus.
