Kate Spade New York is entering the wearables market once more with a new smartwatch. This time of a sportier nature, yet still fashion-forward for those who are fans of the brand.
The ‘Sport Smartwatch’ as it’s called can already be purchased from the Kate Spade New York website.
You can also likely pick up at various department stores. Or places that might sell fashion smartwatches. The watch comes in various color styles as well, meaning you have options.
The new Kate Spade smartwatch is the first sport smartwatch from the company
Kate Spade has made smartwatches before. It’s one of the many fashion brands under Fossil’s umbrella to have done so as well. This will be the first actual “sport” smartwatch from the company though.
The watch is undenyably more feminine than many of the other smartwatches out there. And, that’s a good thing, considering many smartwatches are designed more for masculine tastes or to be unisex.
With the new Sport Smartwatch the device will come in three different colors. This includes Black & Lilac, Pink & Red, and finally Evergreen & Black. The watch will retail for a $275 price tag. Save for the Pink & Red model which retails for $295.
The watch runs on Wear OS, and it comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 inside. It also supports a 3ATM rating for water resistance, making it swim proof. It also comes with a 41mm case, music capabilities, untethered GPS, and various training apps.
The features are pretty familiar
Looking at the features list, everything seems pretty familiar. That’s because all the features are more or less standard for every Wear OS watch now.
Consumers who pick this up can expect things like Google Pay (if it’s supported in your country), the Play Store, heart rate tracking and more. These are also things which you’ll find on other watches under the Fossil Group umbrella. Such as the Puma smartwatch.
As for looks, the design looks similar to the Kate Spade Scallop 2. Yet it also looks different enough that you can tell the two apart. A big reason for this is the band that comes with the watch.
The strap is made of silicone, and the base part of the watch case has color accents that give it a unique look.
That said the bezel still has the same scallop edging that you can find on the Scallop 2, so if you like that look, you’ll probably enjoy the design of this watch as well.
