HONOR View30 Series Flagships Unveiled With Kirin 990 & 5G

HONOR has just announced two new flagship smartphones, the View30 and View30 PRO. These two smartphones come with 5G connectivity. The HONOR View30 and View30 PRO are the company’s very first phones with dual-mode 5G.

Both HONOR View30 smartphones feature the Kirin 990 & 5G support

These are also the company’s first devices fueled by Huawei’s new flagship processor, the Kirin 990. That chip is actually what makes dual-mode 5G possible, as it has an embedded 5G modem.

Just to be clear, the HONOR View30 smartphones support 4G/5G dual-mode, so one SIM card is not limited to 5G support only. If you have spotty 5G connection in your region, the phone can switch to 4G without a problem.

Now, in terms of the design, the HONOR View30 series is made out of metal and glass. These two phones look the same, by the way, so we’re speaking for both of them.

The back side of the View30 is curved on the sides, while both devices include a flat display. The View30 phones include a pill-shaped display camera cutout in the top-left corner of the display.

This cutout is reminiscent of the Galaxy S10+, but it’s placed on the opposite side. The View30 series includes three cameras on the back, and those cameras are vertically-aligned. Next to them sits an LED flash. The whole camera module on the back does protrude a bit.

The volume up and down buttons are included on the right-hand side of the device, and below them sits a capacitive fingerprint scanner. Speaking of the design, the two devices were announced in Ocean Blue, Galaxy Black, Icelandic Frost, and Sunrise Orange colors.

So, what’s interesting here, is that both the View30 and View30 PRO are fueled by the Kirin 990. The View30 comes with a separate Balong 5000 5G modem, while the View30 PRO is equipped with the Kirin 990 5G chipset.

Large display, Android 10, large battery & SuperCharge charging

You’ll find a 6.57-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) FullView Display on both of these phones. The HONOR View30 comes in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, and both include 128GB of internal storage.

The View30 PRO, on the other hand, comes in two 8GB RAM variants, with 128GB and 256GB of storage. Android 10 comes pre-installed on both the View30 and View30 PRO. HONOR’s Magic UI 3.0.1 is installed on top of it.

The HONOR View30 PRO features 40-megapixel (Sony’s IMX600 sensor, f/1.6 aperture, Laser Focus Sensor, Dual OIS), 12-megapixel (Super Wide Angle Camera, f/2.2 aperture, 109-degree lens, 4-in-1 Light Fusion, Macro images, Laser Focus Sensor, Dual OIS), and 8-megapixel (Telephoto Camera, f/2.4 aperture, 3x lossless optical zoom, Laser Focus Sensor) cameras.

The View30 is actually quite similar, but instead of the 12-megapixel Super Wide Angle Camera, it comes with an 8-megapixel Super Wide Angle Camera. Both devices include the same front-facing cameras, 32-megapixel (f/2.0 aperture, AIS Super Night mode), and 8-megapixel (Wide-Angle Selfie Camera, f/2.2 aperture, 105-degree lens) cameras.

A 4,100mAh battery is included in both devices, and both devices support HONOR 40W SuperCharge (70-percent in 30 minutes). The difference is, though, that the HONOR View30 PRO also supports 27W Super Wireless Charge (52-percent in 30 minutes). 10V/4A charger will be included in the box, while you’ll need to get a wireless charger separately.

We still do not know how much will these two smartphones cost globally, but we’ll update the article as soon as HONOR shares more info. We do, however, know that the Chinese variants of these two handsets (called the V30 and V30 PRO) will start at CNY3,299 ($469) and CNY3899 ($554), respectively.
