Huawei MatePad Pro Introduced With Thin Bezels, Kirin 990 & A Stylus

Huawei has announced its rumored MatePad Pro tablet. This device had surfaced in a number of renders thus far, and it’s now finally official. The device got announced in China today.

This tablet comes with rather thin bezels, for a tablet, and a display camera hole. When you hold the device in portrait mode, that camera hole is placed in the top-right corner of the display.

The device’s display offers rounded edges, and the same goes for the tablet itself. You will find a single camera on the back of this tablet, along with an LED flash. Both are a part of the same camera module which is placed in the top-left corner. That camera module does protrude a bit.

Interestingly enough, the power / lock button is placed at the top of the device, from the portrait perspective. It sits above the camera cutout, while the volume up and down buttons are placed right next to that cutout, on the right side of the device.

The Huawei MatePad Pro is Huawei’s flagship tablet, no doubt about that. The device is equipped with the latest and greatest processor the company has to offer, the Kirin 990. That chip fuels the company flagship Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro devices, and also the Mate X foldable smartphone.

The Huawei MatePad Pro comes with really thin bezels

The Huawei MatePad Pro features a 10.8-inch 2560 x 1600 AMOLED display, with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The phone’s bezels are only 4.9mm thick, which is quite thin for a tablet. The device itself comes with a 90-percent screen-to-body ratio, which is extremely high for a tablet.

This device comes with four speakers, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The device also offers 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of internal storage.

The MatePad Pro was announced in Wi-Fi only, and Wi-Fi + LTE options. Android 10 comes pre-installed on the device, along with Emotion UI (EMUI) 10 on top of it. Considering this is a Chinese variant of the device, for now, and the fact that Huawei is still forbidden to utilize GMS, this device comes without Google services.

A 7,250mAh battery is built into the device, and it supports fast charging. Support for Huawei SuperCharge is included, while this tablet supports wireless charging as well. You can utilize 15W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging.

Huawei has also announced a keyboard addition to this tablet, and also an M-Pen stylus which you can utilize in collaboration with this device.

The device is available in four color options

The MatePad Pro comes in Black, Green, Orange, and White colors, and it starts at CNY3,299 ($470) in China. That is the price tag for a 6GB RAM variant of the device, which comes with 128GB of storage, and without LTE support. There are two LTE versions that Huawei is offering.

A variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at CNY3,799 ($540), while the model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage can be purchased for CNY4,499 ($640). Pre-orders for the MatePad Pro start in China today, while the device will go on sale on December 12. Huawei did not mention anything about its international availability.
