Android 10 Is Once Again Rolling Out To The OnePlus 6 & 6T

OnePlus had started rolling out Android 10 to the OnePlus 6 and 6T back in November. We’re talking about a stable update here, by the way. Not soon after that rollout started, issues followed. That forced the company to start the rollout.

OnePlus said that it will fix those issues, and commence the rollout once again. Well, it took the company over a month to fix everything that needed fixing. Android 10 is now once again rolling out to the OnePlus 6 and 6T in form of OxygenOS 10.0.1.

OxygenOS 10.0.1 is an Android 10-based hotfix update for the OnePlus 6 series

This is a hotfix update, needless to say, and it doesn’t bring any new features compared to OxygenOS 10.0. It does fix a number of issues that were present with the original update, though.

First and foremost, it is worth noting that you will get a security patch for October with this update. OnePlus has fixed the fingerprint identification issue here.

On top of that, the animation lag for fingerprint unlock has also been fixed, as has the automatic reboot issue that some users experienced.

The camera performance has also been improved, while known issues have been fixed. The last entry in the changelog has to do with WiFi connectivity, as OnePlus fixed the 5GHz WiFi connection.

Consumers will be relieved following this rollout, as many of them have been requesting that OnePlus delivers this update. The company’s forums were on fire with such requests, and moderators were extremely busy over the last couple of weeks.

Do note that this is a staged rollout as well. A small number of users will get the update initially, and if no additional bugs end up being spotted, the rest of them will receive it as well. If everything goes according to plan, everyone will get it in about a week.

Chances are you will not be able to force this update by using a VPN service. The update is not targeting one region specifically, it seems like OnePlus is rolling it out randomly.

You can update manually if you’re not willing to wait

For those of you who cannot wait for the update to arrive to their devices, you can find full zip download links for OxygenOS 10.0.1 in the link provided in the first paragraph.

Do note that you will need to download this ZIP file to your root folder, and then update via the Settings of the device. The process is not difficult at all, so you may as well do it if you want. Waiting for an OTA update to arrive to your device is recommended, though.

The OnePlus 6 and 6T have now joined the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro who have received this update a while back. The OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro ship with Android 10 out of the box. That means that OnePlus already has six devices that are running the latest version of Android.
