Moto 360 Wear OS Smartwatch Is Finally Up For Pre-Order Now

Motorola’s new Moto 360 smartwatch, launched back in October, is finally now up for pre-order on the official Moto 36o site.

Spotted by TalkAndroid, the Wear OS-powered smartwatch is available in three different designs, building on the previous Moto-branded wearable. Each also comes with two separate straps to better match form and function. One of those is silicone, made to withstand a workout or more rugged climes. The other is leather, perfectly suited for more formal occasions.

The shipping of the wearable is set to start by January 10. It will ship on average around three days or less from the time of ordering after that point, according to Motorola’s page for the device.

About the Moto 360 smartwatch

Pre-orders starting up for the new Moto 360 is great, but what exactly are buyers getting for their money? For starters, this is the third generation Motorola smartwatch to bear the brand. So refinement is a big deal here rather than a major redesign.

The design takes a big step away from the bulkier, more sports-watch aesthetic of the past in favor of sleek new design. Metal is still heavily used, although some may be put off by the somewhat larger-than-average bezels on this smartwatch.

That design has been centered around a rotating crown piece that allows for navigation. Offset from that on the side edge is an action button that’s customizable. The face of the watch, measuring in at 1.2-inches and comprised of an AMOLED display at a reasonable 390 x 390-pixel resolution, is coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The watch is additionally covered with a PVD coating. A 3ATM atmospheric pressure rating, good down to around 30 meters, keeps the Moto 360 watertight for the most part. That’s been tested up to 10,000 swim strokes according to Motorola.

Underneath the skin, Moto 360 features a Snapdragon 3100 platform chipset. That’s a respectable chip backed by a reasonable 1GB of RAM for running smartwatch apps. 8GB of storage is available to store everything that might be needed — whether that’s music, watch faces, or other app data.

The 355mAh battery, Motorola says, will power the watch for up to a full day without issue. So users can use all the Google Play Store apps and other useful features as much as they like without worrying the watch will die halfway through the day.

Cost and availability

Right now, it appears the only way to pre-order the Moto 360 is to pick one up through the official site. Aside from that stipulation, it’s only available to buyers in the US, according to the site.

Buyers can grab the new watch in any of its three designs. The first of those is a Rose Gold stainless steel case, packed in with both a white silicone and brown leather strap.  A Steel Grey stainless steel case variant with both a black silicone and brown leather strap is available too. Finally, the Phantom Black stainless steel case version includes the same black silicone strap. But it comes with a black leather strap as well.

Each of the new Moto 360 wearables costs the same, whichever configuration is chosen, costs $349.99. They’re also each the same size, with coloration being the primary difference.
